I really need some helpful in perspective suggestions on this,
For the last few weekends, on friday nights, a neighbour ( garden faces front of my house ) has been out there drinking and talking, no music etc, the thing is, he keeps staying out there longer and longer each time, and he has one of the most annoying laughs ive ever heard, its loud, deep and happens every 10 seconds.
Its too much, im really not in the right frame of mood to go over to his and confront him.
Last weekend he kept me up until gone 3am,( i went to bed at 9pm) and i had to get up at 5
Im really at a loss, i need my sleep so much, but i can not sleep with the noise he makes.
I wouldn't normally complain about general noise etc, people talking etc, but his laugh, good god, i can not explain the tap tap tap effect it has on my over tired brain.

what should i do?

wax ear plugs. They are very good.

as you can guess, i am still up because he has already started his night in the garden.

OTT, I had exactly the same problem. I kept my baby monitor right by the bed and turned it up loud and then wore the earplugs. It worked. I still awoke at every noise from DD but wasn't disturbed as much by the neighbour.

I did speak with neighbours when I was less "testy" and they've been better since but I do still have to resort to the ear plugs sometimes.

I didn't use wax ones - I used foam ones and now have some sort of soft plastic ones.

It's unaccetable for anyone to be talking outside at that time of night whether they talk loaudly or not. I would just ask him to stop doing it.

Can you put a fan on in your room? Or any kind of "white" noise? Your hearing focuses on that and stops listening out for the extra noises....

FWIW I sleep with earplugs and a fan and always wake up when my son calls out. You are just so attuned it doesn't take much.....

Good luck though...
