i was walking into the library with my dd1 (2.3yrs) and my dd2 (12 months) and a lady referred to my dd2 as a cute little midget!! She is a little short, and has walked since she was 9 months but it was a little mean I think! she was toddling around btw

Probably not meant nastily though or even a reference to your dd being small for her age. One of my best friends calls my dd midget just as she's the youngest in the bunch.

A bit insensitive though to say it to someone you don't know

In my vho, its only offensive if you find midgets offesnive iysiwm?! Im very very stupidly open minded, and look past every single disablilty/deformaty, so I really dont see midget as being offensive.
I call my ds a midget all the time lol x

I doubt it was said unkindly.
If they´d said "cute little thing" that´s not such a pointed reference to height which is perhaps what´s bothering you more?

My daughter at 12 months was wearing clothes for 6 months & looked like a little doll walking around!

I know but she doesn't even know me, complete stranger, just thought it was a little odd, not offended just miffed- it made me laugh a little at the same time, if i'm being really honest i think the lady shocked herself when she said it- there is nothing more funny than folk!!!
