to be fuming after hair colour/cut

I went to hair salon (precious 3 hours) to get colour and cut and I'm completely miserable. I usually get half head of highlights. This stylist was nodding when I explained what I wanted (subtle and natural looking..)she said something about bleaching and putting colour back in - to which I said doesn't that damage your hair?? She said then highlighting damages hair anyways and she said it will look all very natural.

After they finished colouring I looked at the mirror and I had full half head of chunky blond highlights EVERYWHERE with dark normal hair. It looked like skunk....worse So I said can you just dye it chocolate because I just can't go out like this. She dyed it chocolate colour so half of my whole head is chocolate, and bleached bit is a bit more chocolate and really really dry.

I'm fuming as my whole hair feels dry and brittle. I never had so much of my hair bleached...I'm really really still angry and I don't know what to do with myself. What I wanted with my natural hair untouched with bits of highlights...I was polite in the salon but I'm so angry I wasted my precious 3 and half hours getting my hair ruined.

i hope you didn't pay.
tomorrow i would ring the salon, tell them you want to speak to the manager, go in and find out what they will do to improve the situation. if they do suggest doing something else insist that it is done by the top person in the hairdressers and it is free.

I did pay £110. I'm not sure that I want to have ANYTHING done to my hair anymore than grow it out. What I'm most angry about is having spent money and time to give myself nice treat, and it wasn't a treat at the end..

how much?

I agree with Nancy, talk to the manager and insist that they fix it for free. It's better than letting it grow out. An expensive salon like that will be used to handling this sort of thing, and should absolutely fix the problem for you and protect their reputation.

What a huge shame. I'm so sorry.

If you're not happy, definitely go back in and ask to speak to the manager. The stylist clearly didn't listen to your wishes and it should be up to them to sort it out. If they don't get people complaining (and we're usually too polite in general to think of complaining) then they won't realise that there's a problem. Otherwise they're just going to have customers never returning without knowing why. You paid a lot for something that is meant to make you feel gorgeous not miserable. As long as you stay polite then it would be really unreasonable for them not to do something about it. Further, if you're actually in the salon when making the complaint then it is less easy for them to fob you off especially as there will be other customers in there. Perhaps go in at one of their peak times? I hope it all works out.

YANBU to hate it.

YABU if you do nothing about it.

Complain, demand they 'fix' it.

This sounds like when I was 17 and asked for a fashionable jaw-length bob and came out looking like Jean Seberg in Breathless in drag. Not good.

I paid and left and cried all the way home. Then I got angry and stormed back in and got my money back. They couldn't fix it for me but they did offer me my next three cuts for free, which I politely told them they could stick up their bum.

Go and get your money back.
