helping at school fetes/events

I always offer and help out at school events.

But a new chair of the PTA has moved the school fete from the traditional Friday after school to Saturday pm, with Sat am for setting up.

People have told her that was unwise but bless her, she is adamant and I feel obliged and want to support her.

But, she is now realising not many want to do it (due in 2 weeks)then and I don't want it to be the first fete to be cancelled due to lack of support.

Oh dear. I'm now filled with anxiety about being stuck all day on a stall with no one else helping. I feel so guilty about feeling like this, aibu?

Nah - I'm a teacher and there's something much more annoying and intrusive in terms of cutting into your free time going from helping for a couple of hours after school and still being done and home by 7, to a Saturday thing which invariably will drag on and on and on by the time you set up/help/tidy away and because it's not going to LOOK as pressed for time - people will grab you for endless chats and before you know it you'll have lost the entire day.

After school's annoying in a way, but you can get the kids to help set up tables etc, and it's got a very clearly defined lifespan for how long it can go on for - I hate Saturday school fetes because they don't half drag.

Always found you got a better turnout for after school ones personally because you've got everyone on site by virtue of them picking their kids up from school.

Just invent a fictional appointment you HAVE to get to so it gives you a get out clause if you're looking like you're going to be stuck there all day - they'll just have to survive without you if you've got an aged aunt you need to help get to Tesco or whatever at 2pm so your stint doesn't drag on for the entire duration.
