DD1 desperate to watch the end, but really could do with an earlish night after some late nights in half term, and a trampolining competetion tomorrow

I'm guessing it is to give time to set the stage for each act.

Mind you I love the advert that was just on, shame it is for anchor butter.

YANBU discussed this with a friend earlier and worked out 10 acts x 5mins = 50 mins. How do you stretch it out another 100 mins.
A: ads, ant and dec, guest singer and lots of drum rools anticipated silence.

Ah, yes, Britain's got Talent - or as Dh calls it, 'Britains' Got Adverts' - interspersed with short talent breaks.

YANBU. DC are desperate to watch until the end, but I know they will fall asleep before.

I'm guessing that it's to do with the £££s they get for advertising.

Though getting very tired of the pizza ads....

Probably a mixture of both really. But they usually have more elaborate staging for the final and it can take a bit of time. Did you notice all the people in black walking on at the back whilst Ant & Dec were interviwing that singer.

Having been backstage at events it takes a lot longer than you sometimes realise.
