It's EASY to spread butter on toast - you SCRAPE the butter with the knife so it's a THIN LAYER and it MELTS [duh!] onto the HOT TOAST. Dp doesnt just put the lids on things he puts them away too so you turn your back to give toast to child and go to deal with your own (which is the the toaster keeping warm) and find the side cleared and dp wiping down.
