YANBU - It will change your life, and your hands

BertieBotts · 04/06/2010 12:51

Oooooooh!! Jealous!!

lamplighter · 04/06/2010 13:04

I go round friends' houses just to stroke their dishwashers - DP is totally against having one (but he does do the washing up).

I am still very jealous of you though. Maybe you could pour us all a drink to assuage your guilt

Morloth · 04/06/2010 13:17

Dishwashers are the best invention of the modern age. Life changing is putting it mildly.

Riddo · 04/06/2010 13:18

We were given a miele which we could never have afforded - it cost us a bottle of wine and some chocs and I loved it . Sadly it has now had to be replaced with a much cheaper and much less marvellous one.

SpodULike · 04/06/2010 13:39

YADNBU, washing up is the devils work - fact.

Think of all the extra MN time you'll have

Julezboo · 04/06/2010 13:57

Guilt? what guilt I have rung my mum announcing it as if its massive news haha

escorchio · 04/06/2010 14:01

YADNBU, fantastic news, I'm actually quite excited for you . I needed cheering up today, and you have done it. The simplest things can make the biggest difference, and a d/w can safely count. Never understand the anti-d/w mob, all my DH family are completely against them. Long live your dishwasher!!!

diamondsandtiaras · 04/06/2010 14:01

ooooo you lucky thing!!!! are you local to me? can i come round and play with it? as someone who washes up 4 times a day 7 days a week i am very

lamplighter · 04/06/2010 14:06

If you don't feel any guilt - can you still pour the drinks? [Hopeful]

Julezboo · 04/06/2010 14:15

lol diamonds I am south wales! You can even bring your dishes and have a go if you want!

Lamp I will pour the drinks once my dishes are clean

DH doesnt seem that bothered idiot man

Still have to find somewhere to fit it as well, but hey, i'll go without cupboards to fit it in

YANBU. This time next week you will wonder how you ever found the time to wash up. Enjoy!

diamondsandtiaras · 04/06/2010 16:45

awwwww I'm in the midlands. Although my parents are in south wales so I could pop by with a load next time we're visiting

websticks · 04/06/2010 17:14

Best thing i ever bought. Love the kids 1st dishwasher 2nd and DP 3rd. He knows his place lol

addictedisalmosthalfway · 04/06/2010 17:26

best thing i ever bought here too. dh was totally against the idea of buying one, thought they were a waste of money. so i stopped doing the washing up and left it all for him, it took him 1 week to change his mind!

they are amazing, enjoy

sanielle · 04/06/2010 19:00

I would probably wet myself with excitment so think you are being very reasonable

Tootlesmummy · 04/06/2010 19:03

I had my whole kitchen rearranged to get the one we were bought as a wedding present into our kitchen! my life has never been the same and all the time it was sitting in my dining room waiting to be fitted I was feeling bereft!
The greatest invention and a life saver......!

Buddleja · 04/06/2010 19:06

God no you're not

I can still very clearly recall the day I went dishwasher shopping and the day it arrived.

Two of the happiest days of my life

Megatron · 04/06/2010 19:07

YANBU. I nearly cried with joy when I got mine.

Squitten · 04/06/2010 19:11

We bought our house in November and there is no dishwasher. My kitchen is a bombsite constantly. I miss my dishwasher...!

Snobear4000 · 04/06/2010 23:46

YANBU. Great days ahead, not scrubbing pots. Happy days.

And btw a big fuck-off to BIL who thinks he's "right-on" and said dishwashers are a "symbol of western excess". Bollocks, they're a symbol of not doing the dishes any more.
