to actually quite enjoy the school holidays?

Sorry if this sounds a bit smug, but I am really enjoying the half term holiday.

It probably helps that I get a week off too, but I love spending time with the DC! Now that they are all school age I think I appreciate time with them more.

This week we have been making the most of the weather. We've been to a NT property, to the beach, to the forest, to a ruined castle, to the museum, to the library... we have had picnics and long walks... and most importantly nobody has moaned or argued (yet )

Tomorrow we are off to the Hay Festival.

I am going to be so sad and grumpy on Monday morning!

I would love school holidays too, if I was actually on holiday .

True, that is the advantage of working in Education myself!

I wish I could join you, I am having a blue-bottle-ass fly day fire-fighting with my lot(!!)

not unreasonable..........perhaps slightly unhinged though I'm a SAHM with a 27 month old and a 16 week old and personally i HATE the school hols! No groups or classes to entertain DD1 and parks/swimming pool/soft play all soooo packed full of kids there's no room to move. Bring on next monday!!

Now I probably would have agreed with you when mine were that age... but they are now 4, 6 and nearly 8 and it is so much easier.

I am with you - i live school holidays ...i have taken a week off work ...no nasty school runs ...love it !!! We have been swimming, picnics, bowling, parks, farm .... roll on the summer hols !!

I love the school holidays. I do only work term-time though which helps.

Loads of fighting today but I've ignored them sitting on the beach reading my book. Waited for years to be able to do negligent parenting

YANBU - my mum said only today that she used to love school holidays as it meant that she didn't have to rush around in the morning trying to get two children ready

I too work term time, so love the break.
And now they are older, the dcs sort themselves out going to friends etc.

I think its the SAHMs who often say they dread the hols...and particularly folk who love routines...but as a working parent I absolutely love the holidays!
