To rename Britains Got Talent as Britain is Talentless and should be Ashamed.

Ok, so yesterday I was watching Britain's Got Talent, I was surprised to see what the talent was. A 74 year old dressed as a leprachaun, a transvestite miming madonna songs and a 'dance' troupe. Who honestly wants to see these things, how are they picked as talent and why are piers Morgan and amanda Holden qualified to choose them. Even worse how have I let myself be caught in this madness?

So should it be renamed or AIBU?

The acrobats were good though.

Ladyanonymous · 03/06/2010 10:09

I have been a bit at some of the acts that were put through this year.

Bit insulting that the judges think the British public would want to see a guy chopping wood, it that entertaining?

Its taking the piss, an insult to our intelligence and unfair on other acts who didn't get through with more talent.

MathsMadMummy · 03/06/2010 10:15

YABU for the suggested title change - but I do agree some of the acts were ridiculous, when you consider that others missed out. Really they should only put through people who have at least a vague chance of winning!

skippingturtle · 03/06/2010 10:15

What was going on with "Moan River"? Should have had subtitles.

DetectivePotato · 03/06/2010 10:16

Amanda and Piers do it every bloody year. They put through shite acts that should never have got through the first bit. I think its just to annoy Simon as he doesn't like them. I find that I always agree with Simon.

DetectivePotato · 03/06/2010 10:17

And luckily these idiots don't make the final. The public see sense.

GeraldineAubergine · 03/06/2010 10:18

Ok fair enough the title is a bit harsh. Perhaps it should be Britain appears to be talentless based on the acts in this show. Not very snappy though.

Amanda Holden is the most irritating woman on TV.

MathsMadMummy · 03/06/2010 10:19

maybe "Britain's Got Talent And Several Nutters To Boot"

GeraldineAubergine · 03/06/2010 10:20

It also irritates me when one of them says "you cod win this" when what they really mean is "I will sway the public descision by favouring the one I can make the most money from. I pick you singing child".

Noticed the singing children are not getting through this year. Neither are most of the dance acts.

Love Spelbound though, even if the spelling does really annoy me.

Like Tobias too and I don't usually like impressionists but I thought that bloke was really funny last night. Like the singing accountant too. I wanted the singing bouncer to go through rather than crappy boyband. Like Simon said the first time, its all a bit 15 years ago now.

GeraldineAubergine · 03/06/2010 10:28

I'm sure that elderly leprachaun will make a fortune at raves after this.

ZZZenAgain · 03/06/2010 10:31

you hve not mentioned the miming pig

DetectivePotato · 03/06/2010 10:34

Did anyone else think that the 'miming' pig was just chewing food that she gave it?

mommmmyof2 · 03/06/2010 10:37

i think that Britain has alot of talent especially young children these days, i knew one of the dancers in it last year and the tv crew let him down! it is the show and the judges and the people behind the scenes that ruin the show and the people who go on it! i mean i think they pick some really bad people to go through on purpose! silly

GeraldineAubergine · 03/06/2010 10:38

I didn't see the miming pig. It sounds high calibre though. I wish I'd seen the wood chopping man too.

OP posts:
heth1980 · 03/06/2010 10:43

miming pig bloody hell I'm glad I don't bother watching it!! Isn't there anything else on the other channel you could watch instead It does sound like it might be worth it for the entertainment value though........

DetectivePotato · 03/06/2010 10:49

I Sky + it now and flick through all the crap. How is that a show that is an hour and a half on tv can be watched in about 25 minutes!! Grrrr.

singsinthebath · 03/06/2010 11:34

'Tis all managed to get you watching surely.

As executive producer or whatever he is, surely Simon and his team make up a little scenario - Louis lets through the dancing leprachaun (sp?) to annoy Simon and that makes (allegedly) interesting telly and everyone talks about it. The nutters give us something to laugh at and talk about.

As the man in charge, if Simon didn't want the little Irish fellow there, surely he wouldn't be. Mr Cowell seems to have the knack of knowing what the average ITV viewer finds interesting watching (although I do agree this year's series is not as good as last year's).

FWIW, my favourite was the guitar playing dog.

MathsMadMummy · 03/06/2010 11:43

I do think this year there's more talent, just balanced out with more rubbish acts too. Last year (never watched it before then) it was really really obvious it'd either be SuBo or Diversity, this year there's quite a few contenders.

pigletmania · 03/06/2010 14:46

YABU there was a fantastic singer who was an accountant and on Tuesday Chandi the dog, who cannot resist her she was great.

GeraldineAubergine · 03/06/2010 14:50

Ok I admit the dog was talented, singing accountant not really my cup of tea. I may have been hasty, I hadn't really watched before and am only basing my opinion on the three acts in the op, plus the not great singing child. I might be AbitU.

Ladyanonymous · 03/06/2010 14:51

I don't get the "dog mania" I think I am the only person in the world who doesn't - my DP was nearly in tears

pigletmania · 03/06/2010 14:59

I want Chandi she is adorable
