Am I hallucinating?

Perhaps it is just my computer screen, or my ageing eyesight, but in my 'Bookmarks' column, the blue MSN logo looks exactly like a tiny cannabis leaf. The type they used to print on Zippos in the last century.
AIBU to hope this is some kind of coded message. Can surfing MN all afternoon get you stoned or permanently damage your cognitive abilities?

Don't know what you are talking about....

usualsuspect · 03/06/2010 11:11

I wouldn't know what a cannabis leaf looked like

BallpointPen · 03/06/2010 11:12

A bit of a raggedy-ass one maybe.

I see what you mean OP

tethersend · 03/06/2010 11:21

Mine looks more like the royal crest as seen on packs of B&H.

Could pareidolia be induced by stress or being subjected to Gaslighting Kevin, or is it a 'clinical' condition?

WhenKevinMetSadie · 03/06/2010 11:48

Hi BeerTricksKidder

Pareidolia is a normal occurence, so nothing to worry about.

Illusions can be induced by stress; they're very common when tired or during strong emotional reactions; e.g frightened in the house alone at night, wind blows tree against the window, you think someone is standing outside. They're usually corrected by paying increased attention to the stimulus.

Gaslighting would be very likely to provoke strong emotional reactions so yes, illusions could occur. Again, experiencing illusions is within the normal range of perceptions.

HTH

Is there a phenomenonogically correct term for being a humourless, pompous, know-it-all ass?

OP posts:
tethersend · 03/06/2010 12:26

Arf.

BeerTricksKidder · 03/06/2010 13:01

No tametiger, but there is one for being a wanker.. and it is ........wanker. Is your middle MN name 'ivan' by any chance?

moonstorm · 03/06/2010 13:07

Where's the bookmarks column? [curious]

tethersend · 03/06/2010 13:10

BerrTricksKidder, you sound lovely

Namechanger or is a 'Welcome to Mumsnet' in order?

lamplighter · 03/06/2010 13:23

Am I missing something here? Why are people fighting?

BallpointPen · 03/06/2010 13:39

They're not stoned enough.

AlCrowley · 03/06/2010 14:02

That all went incredibly nasty incredibly quickly!!

Was that really necessary Kev? Beer?

Pennies · 03/06/2010 14:07

Kev & Beer are being unreasonable.

WhenKevinMetSadie · 03/06/2010 14:11

OK, tiger, I had incorrectly thought that you were on the wind up when you suggested MN caused cognitive impairment. So, I became a little sensitive and defensive. I apologise.

Personally, due to my line of work, I do not find symptoms of mental illness funny. But, each to their own. (I do, believe it or not, have a sense of humour about other things, but stigma around mental illness is a personal bugbear of mine.).

And apologies on my behalf for the earlier thread hijack.

loopylou6 · 03/06/2010 14:17

WTF?

lamplighter · 03/06/2010 14:23

Ahh that is all clear and fine and dandy then! Totally sorted. Excellent. Jolly good.

[Rolls up thread and runs out of view arms flailing above head]

tametiger · 03/06/2010 14:44

Moonstorm - along the top of your browser page you should see File - Edit - View - History - Bookmarks.....etc
When you open a site you want to come back to again, eg MN, with the site open, click on 'Bookmarks'. You then have the opportunity to bookmark that page. Next time you want to open the page, click on Bookmarks and your saved sites appear as a list down the left hand side of the page. It becomes a Favourite site. Hope this is clear.
I use Firefox so might be different on other browsers.

BTW - Kevin, apology not accepted.
Beer - what's a wanker?

You are very, very brave poking your head into this thread!

[Whispers - check your name darling]

loopylou6 · 03/06/2010 15:03

Hahahahahaha should I mention that I take tablets for my 'mental health issues' or do you think he wouldhave a cow

AlCrowley · 03/06/2010 15:13

I'm not surprised you're not accepting the apology tiger - that was a massive overreaction to what was obviously a joke-y thread!

I've had severe depression in the past, doesn't mean I go off on one every time someone puts a on their post!!
