DP and I live in a shared house with 3 other couples. Urgh.

Anyway DP starts work at 5am so this morning I stayed in his bed til about 9. Woken up by two of his housemates talking v loudly (woman in particular thinks she doesn't constantly shout....but she does. Also bit of background, she's one of these martyr women, she moans constantly but does all the jobs) she was talking about me! She was like 'Skiphop is a fucking bitch, why is she such a snob?'

Then she was bitching about how I leave the bathroom untidy. Since I bought the sodding toilet roll and the soap and empty the bin AND CLEAN THE TOILET I don't see how I am the one leaving it untidy, but I digress. Then she was like 'And once I had to clean SkipHop's period blood from the toilet, can you believe that? She is disgusting'

Now aside from the fact that no, she has not cleaned the tiolet for me since I always clean the toilet, I don't see why you would bitch about this. If someone got blood in my toilet and didn't notice I would clean it up and never mention it because it wouldn't be something anyone would mean to do.
And anyway she has on two occassions left bloody tampon applicators on the side of the bath (!) which I have cleaned up and obviously not mentioned.

Sorry, I have a massive tendancy to ramble.
So WWYD, go downstairs and say 'Please keep your voice down in future if you're going to complain'
or text her later when you get the courage :P

OR retain moral high ground and remain nice?

Short, unhelpful answer - I'd move out!

TheArmadillo · 01/06/2010 12:33

from experience there are always those who think they do loads of housework but actually do fuck all while everyone else runs around. Then have the cheek to think that it's everyone else who creates the mess (when usually they're the worse). They also tend to be arrogant and passive aggressive (I expect she knew you would be able to overhear her)>

They never change no matter what you do.

Your only choices are
a) find new housemates
b) move out
c) put up with it.

WombFrootShoot · 01/06/2010 12:33

I take it she didn't know you were still in the house?

TBH I would have probably gone down while she was slagging me off and called her a shitpipe.

I'd get her to one side actually and say, "I heard you this morning, I would appreciate it if you have a problem with me, that you come and speak to me directly rather than spread baseless rumours about me." And then I'd probably set fire to the house.

SkipHopJump · 01/06/2010 12:36

Ok so arson is definitely a viable choice.

We're only with these people one more month, and then it will be just us

I don't think she knew I was in the house, because she is one of these two faced women who can't ever say anything to your face. I thought I had left this behind at school, didn't realise adults remained so pathetic!

Don't know why I clarified it was DP's bed in post. Thaat sounds creepy. I meant I stayed in bed!

"One more month" should become your mantra then.

I've got to be honest I would be filled with THE FURY if someone was talking about me BLEEDING from my VAGINA on a toilet and NOT HAVING CLEANED IT UP. I'm not entirely sure I could keep the old trap shut TBH, and actually, why should you?

stoppinattwo · 01/06/2010 12:46

....oh I so love that term "shitpipe"

It has to go down on my list of excellent insults

WombFrootShoot · 01/06/2010 12:48

SkipHopJump introduced me to that word last week, hence my usage of it here!

TheCrackFox · 01/06/2010 12:49

You could always clean the toilet with her toothbrush. That should cure her potty mouth ways.

SkipHopJump · 01/06/2010 12:49

:D Huzzah! I have become memorable!

I might have a word with her later. She's one of these who starts shouting when you're just trying to have a discussion. Honestly, this woman! If only everyone was as perfect as me!

Crackfox- I have thought about it many many times.

stoppinattwo · 01/06/2010 12:55

tell her that if she talks about you again...you will shove the bog brush up her shitpipe......et that word out into everyday useage

WombFrootShoot · 01/06/2010 12:57

If she starts shouting, start whispering. It's very sinister.

GetThePartyStarted · 01/06/2010 13:03

Because I am narky, I would say something like "I always think it's such a shame that people bitch about others behind their backs and aren't mature enough to discuss things like adults, don't you? BTW, the sound insulation in this house is quite poor, isn't it?"

But then I am very stroppy in general

CharlieBoo · 01/06/2010 13:10

Ooh what a bitch. If it were me I'd be trying to think of all the ways I could get her back and hideously embarrass her.

Next time she leaves the empty tampons by the bath, wait till everyones in, go downstairs and present them to her and say 'you left these by the bath love, I don't think that's where they live do you?'

Or put them in her bag/purse, in her bed, glove box etc etc etc. You get the idea lol. Don't get mad, get even.

TastesLikePanda · 01/06/2010 13:15

I would stop cleaning the bathroom, buying loo roll etc, then see how fast it get disgusting... rent a travelodge to have a bath in if needed!
When the complaints roll in, just say 'well you are the one who ALWAYS cleans it so maybe you need to get your act together?!
Lock your loo roll in your room!

HalfTermHero · 01/06/2010 13:46

Well, I would give her something to complain about. Go and empty a bottle of tomato ketchup all over the toilet then go out for the afternoon.

HelenFF · 01/06/2010 13:49

I'd have to say something, I think. Might not be the best thing to do, but otherwise the rage would eat me up. I might be nice whilst saying it, but I'd want her to know I'd heard everything.
