flockwallpaper · 31/05/2010 09:36

Just for fun, have a look at these - scroll down

petisa · 31/05/2010 09:38

Why this need to slag others off to make yourself feel better? Are you really that insecure? Who CARES what other people have on their bodies or what they will look like when they are 80? Anyway, I'm definitely off now.

petisa · 31/05/2010 09:38

Whoops flock I was still ranting at addressing the OP.

darkandstormy · 31/05/2010 09:42

op I agree they are so chav imo

petisa · 31/05/2010 09:42

Lol! Angelina Jolie's tattoos are awful. As are most famous people's. I really don't understand why, you'd think with so much money they could find out who the best tattoo artist in the country is. They all seem to have horrible things that look as if they've been scratched on with a needle for a tenner by a "pal" in their rough flat after a night of downing buckie.

SambuccaKelly · 31/05/2010 09:43

They look gross on anyone - man or woman.

ApocalypseCheese · 31/05/2010 09:43

Ha, I don't live far from Windermere and believe me it's not the tattoo clad masses we take issues with (think barbour and hounds)

flockwallpaper · 31/05/2010 09:49

Oh yes, better give my opinion!

Tattoos are like any other art. Some look great and some look awful. They need not look common at all although some of them do.

petisa · 31/05/2010 09:51

Totally agree flock.

Mittz · 31/05/2010 10:05

Sorry Hecate, I have worked with Old people as well.. old age just isn't a 'good look' at all.. all that saggage and wrinklage..

Actually laughing at Gichin.

On the attention seeking thing..hmm I have some in places that no one will see, they are symbolic and are special to me. I also have dermal implants.

I won't be sad and desperate at 70 gichin, nor am I chavvy or common. You say you don't like women with tattoos. Is that literally, personally? As in, if you knew I had a tattoo you wouldn't like me? You want to debate the subject seriously, but unfortunately, sweeping generalisations are not conducive to 'serious debate'.

Why do I do it? Well I find them attractive. I don't judge people who don't have them though. The butterfly at the base of my spine represents my metamorphosis following an accident in which I broke my spine in 4 places. The one on my leg that I designed myself is again about personal growth and will at some point be continued. The fairy I had dome yesterday (Oh and I am 40) is wrapped up in a personal belief that I am not sharing with you because you will probably diminish it with a snide comment.

The piercings I have had are sadly an attempt to channel my self harming due to serious depression and completely annihilated self esteem.

I have a degree, run my own business, have two bright beautiful children.

But for all my 'Issues' Gichin. I am glad that I am me and not you. Because I don't judge anybody, whether they are tattooed, driving a big expensive car, travellers, or completely conformist. We all have a story to tell, from the person who cleans the council toilets, to the social so called 'elite'.

ShesEverSoFamous · 31/05/2010 10:16

Ha! I have 20 tattoos, guess I'm just rebellious

fyimate · 31/05/2010 10:20

Good for you, Mittz! Sounds like you found a really effective way of channeling positive thought and feeling from bad experiences.
(hope that didnt come out wrong, I'm not being funny, just liked your post).

petisa · 31/05/2010 10:20

I mean if I were Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt, I'd be straight on the phone to Shige or Horiyoshi asking them to tattoo me! Don't you think so OP, what with you being soo knowledgeable on the subject of tattoos, n'all?

Here is an example of Shige's work. Has no artistic talent whasoever, does he?

ShesEverSoFamous · 31/05/2010 10:23

Petisa, if I had enough room for that design and enough cash I would be straight on the phone too.

ApocalypseCheese · 31/05/2010 10:23

Well I have a tiny J on the inside of my wrist which represents my cousin, 14 hrs younger than, she was my best friend, she died aged 13.

If a bit of ink on my wrist helps me heal and feel slightly better then so be it. I'm harming nobody.

If people are stupid enough to judge somebody because they have a drawing inked on their skin, that's their problem. Leave them to it I say !

Mittz · 31/05/2010 10:24

fyimate.. I get what you mean thank you..

2blessed2bstressed · 31/05/2010 10:26

YABU
More to be pitied than scolded however, so I'm off

petisa · 31/05/2010 10:28

What a lovely post Mittz! These are the kinds of interesting reasons for getting a tattoo that my dp hears all the time from his customers.

petisa · 31/05/2010 10:30

That's why I hate to hear people judging his lovely customers. Anyway, dd is clamouring to go to the park, so definitely off now.

fyimate · 31/05/2010 10:31

I'll be honest I had quite a narrow minded few of those with tattoos but after reading through what those with tattoos have said I take it back, how can you judge?
If I may, let's say I saw Mittz on the street, how could I possibly judge her when I do not know WHY she got those tattoos etc, even this isnt important because as I said before it's upto them, it's their body.

But taken into account what has been said I think I'll see people with tattoos in a whole new way now but more importantly, not judge them.

Lulumaam · 31/05/2010 10:31

btw , it's tattoos, not tattos or tatoos...

futhermore, you cannot expect a decent debate or argument or discussion when the starting point is that women with tattoos are common.

it does not leave much room for anything other than .' well, i'm not common' ' yes you are'

not terribly enlightening

Alicetheinvisible · 31/05/2010 10:33

Perfectly possible to look common without a tattoo.

I have two tattoos and while i won't be getting anymore, i like that i had them done and it is a piece of my past. Like a scar, or a wrinkle or a stretchmark. Part of who you are.

Some tattoos are not attractive i admit (like the beautiful gecko on my stomach that is all stretched and disfigured since pregnancy ) but the person who got it done may be very fond of it.

No worse than seeing someone with manky feet (a mn bugbear i know) or with way too tight jeans

fyimate · 31/05/2010 10:33

*view, not few! :P

starshaker · 31/05/2010 10:34

ive just uploaded a couple of mine. I love my tats and after the twins arrive i will be having at least another 1

UnquietDad · 31/05/2010 10:37

Depends on the woman, depends on the tattoo.
