my brain hurts through overwork. I have hideous crippling period pain. I want, no, I need gin.

Take a paracetomol first.

EccentricaGallumbits · 29/05/2010 17:08

Ibuprofen and gin go together in my experience.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 29/05/2010 17:10

Water might be better .

deaddei · 29/05/2010 17:11

If I was on gin at 5 I would be maudlin and depressed by 8, and blaming everything on my childhood.

EccentricaGallumbits · 29/05/2010 17:17

maybe beer would be better?

It's the weekend, crack on.

KorkiiEffenkrakers · 29/05/2010 17:26

My granny, the cleverest lady who ever lived, swore by hot gin and water (with sugar and lemon) for period pains. Everyone who has ever tried it, swears by it.

Spacehoppa · 29/05/2010 17:32

I find that adding fruit to the gin (as in the Damson Gin) helps immensely. Then you are not actually classed as drinking it-just SAMPLING. Sometimes it takes a couple of glasses too to make a proper opinion of the stuff. Do not take to hanging around in your dressing gown, thats when the problems start

RunawayWife · 29/05/2010 17:36

You are being very very very very unreasonable as you have not offered any round to me!!!!!!

/holds out glass and looks hopeful

TrinityIsATwat · 29/05/2010 17:38

dont do it
you'll regret it in the morning

VinegarTits · 29/05/2010 17:38

i could have written this thread

muggglewump · 29/05/2010 17:40

Gin never a good idea, FGS it tastes like celery which any fule knows is vile.

I suggest vodka/lager/wine/nail varnish remover/cough medicine/anything that is not gin.

TrinityIsATwat · 29/05/2010 17:41

I'm with mugglewump
I dont understand why anyone would drink gin

Theantsgomarching · 29/05/2010 17:48

Brandy is great for period pain. I was given brandy by my school principle who was a nun, for period pain, during my french A level exam! and I was underage at the time. Worked a charm! I'm not a fan of gin myself, but treat yourself..whatever works for you

jendaisy · 29/05/2010 18:02

Oooh I am jealous (avid gin lover and 31 weeks pg). I would actually kill for a good gin sesh right now.

Go for it. It's gin o' clock lady!

BigBadMummy · 29/05/2010 18:11

I am surprised you waited until 5pm.

We hvae been drinking since lunchtime 4pm in this house.

Tis a Bank Holiday after all.

MsHighwater · 29/05/2010 18:40

YANBU but you have given me a good idea (even if it is now later than 5)

KorkiiEffenkrakers · 29/05/2010 21:28

Damn you - have just had to send DH to tescos for a lemon and some slim line tonic after reading this! (And dry roasted peanuts, kitkats etc too...)

lazarusb · 29/05/2010 22:23

It's the weekend, vodka, tonic, lemon & lots of ice for me please! No period pain- just want one

Minshu · 29/05/2010 22:51

Why has no one suggested gin (with full fat tonic) followed by red wine and dark chocolate - isn't it obvious???

Snobear4000 · 30/05/2010 06:01

Minshu. Agreed that slimline tonic is pure evil. Make mine a Tom Collins please. I'm kind of old-skool, you know.
