Emails in email group threads, that is.

Do you snip?

Do you refuse to snip?

Why?

Snip? email group threads?

I don't understand.

Ok, you know when you are a member of an email group, like a yahoo group, and you are sent every email sent to the group?

Well, some people think that when you reply to an email from the group, you should snip out all the irrelevant bits, including headers and footers, so that the emails don't get too long.

Others think they can't be bothered and when lots can't, it results in very, very long emails full of repeated emails being sent.

As I'm just reading a debate in a group as to whether or not people should snip (and it's a self-moderated, low-rules group), I wondered what the MN consensus was.

Ah, with you.

I know what you mean now. Snip. It takes 2 seconds and it's a good thing to do as part of a group. You want to chat to each other, you want to make things easy. If they don't have 2 seconds to trim a message it must take longer than that to keep wading through repetitions?

We're not talking vasectomies then?

MrsWobbleTheWaitress · 28/05/2010 20:03

cock - why do you think I put that as my thread title?

Roffle, hadn't thought of myself as cock

Had only name changed on a whim, think I might have to go and put my usual coat on
