To have taken the day off to lie in bed and watch TV

when I'm 35 weeks pregnant and just been on an overseas work trip? Trying to summon up the energy to feel guilty, but enjoying surfing mumsnet too much. (BTW - I'm permitted to work from home and have totally flexible hours at the moment, so don't have to lie to anyone about what I'm doing.)

YABVU - you should take two days off not just one

TrillianAstra · 28/05/2010 11:10

If you are too tired from pregnancy to work than YANBU to take the day off sick.

But if you are 'working from home' then you should actually do some work.

I disagree Trillian -as long as op does the work and organises her time effectively then why should she not have a day off? In my mind it is a bit like flexi time - she will still have to do the work but she can do it when it suits her.

OP - you must be exhausted and peace and quiet will be scarce to non existant once the baby arrives so hope you enjoy your day

I meant don't say 'I am working from home' if you are not working. Say 'I have organised my workload and am taking this as flexi-time' or 'I feel like shit so can't work today'.

V impressed at you having the energy to go on a trip when 35 weeks pregnant!

YANBU - enjoy

beanlet · 28/05/2010 15:01

well, if the reason for going on the trip comes off I will be pulling 1.2 million euros into my department, so I don't think I'm being particularly unreasonable! I'll pay for taking the day off in the coming week though having to work all the hours god provides to meet some deadlines. Still can't really work up the energy to feel guilty. I will though. Promise!
