Bad husband !

mumoffourgirls · 26/05/2010 17:10

Kick his arse, what do you need a big feckin sign on your head...

analytic · 26/05/2010 17:26

on the bright side: . . he's not going to quiz you on how much you spent.

whatname · 26/05/2010 17:59

true!!!
and he knew I was going!

DP didn't notice for a week (in fact, he never noticed) and I had 5 inches of hair cut off. People I hardly knew noticed. (I might as well have put a big feckin sign on me head.)

kickassangel · 26/05/2010 18:33

i once had my hair cut from waist length to a short bob - the PIL didn't notice.

bran · 26/05/2010 18:38

DH only ever noticed my haircuts when we had a joint credit card and he used to do the whole "HOW much?" thing. Now that I don't use the joint credit card anymore he never says a word.

mumto2andnomore · 26/05/2010 18:44

I met my husband for lunch a while back and he said to me 'you're having your hair cut this afternoon aren't you ?'. I'd had it cut and coloured that morning, men !

HecateQueenOfWitches · 26/05/2010 19:39

Oh please! Most men wouldn't notice if you shaved all your hair off and dyed your scalp blue!

lolapoppins · 26/05/2010 20:24

I had mine dyed from Highlighted blonde to dark brown last week. Dh still not bloody noticed.

Spero · 26/05/2010 20:27

I read something fascinating ages ago which claimed that men and women have different distribution of rods and cones in our eyes and thus we really do see things differently - men apparently see 'the whole thing' i.e. their wife just looks like a wife shaped being, they actually can't see the individual bits of her like new hair, new dress. Whereas women hone in and focus upon individual elements and immediately notice any small change to someone's appearance.

Apparently this is why men look in the fridge and claim not to be able to see the butter, even though it is right in front of them.

I wish I could remember where I read it, as it was v interesting and if true, would explain A LOT.

StarExpat · 26/05/2010 20:32

hmmm, spero I remember reading something similar... however my dh never notices if I've had my haircut, but did notice immediately each time my breasts had grown throughout pregnancy (sometimes before I noticed!)
selective eyesight?

Spero · 26/05/2010 20:36

Hmmmm. That would appear to be a fly in that theory's ointment. Maybe breasts/bottom are the exceptions because they protrude?

grasping at straws

StarExpat · 26/05/2010 20:38

LOL Spero
SO.... the trick to getting dh's to notice haircuts is to have some sort of hair accessory protruding from your head

Spero · 26/05/2010 20:42

Pity, I quite liked that theory.

I think further research is required to see if men are really biolgically disadvantaged by how they see or just lazy gits who can't be bothered to notice/compliment their partners.

My experience has been that men are quite quick to comment on something that they don't like the look of , but rather more slow to say 'you look gorgeous darling, I do like your new hair'. I don't know what that's all about...

StarExpat could try putting a comedy breast on your head, and guage the reaction

StarExpat · 26/05/2010 20:53

And yes, I noticed the negative more than positive thing, too... like when men see things they comment on what is daft or they don't like...etc. whereas I will point out things I think are beautiful or interesting quite often.
Big generalisation to say this is true of all men/women, though. So I won't say that.

deaddei · 26/05/2010 21:00

At least he didn't say "but do YOU like it" which basically means it's shit.

whatname · 26/05/2010 21:33

Well he finally noticed!

OP posts:
analytic · 27/05/2010 11:58

did he ask how much you spent?

whatname · 27/05/2010 12:59

ha ha... no he didnt!!!
