To find this a bit odd?

Our close is very quiet and we back onto forest one side and a bigfield the other.

All the children play out after school which is lovely.

However come tea time there is one Dad who seems to be a bit weird in calling his daughter into the house.

He used to BELLOW until she came back which I always thought was a bit strange as the area the children play in is less than 30 seconds away to walk and find her but fair enough if he doesn't want to leave his doorstep (his wife stands there next to him hollering)

Now he has invested in a megaphone! Maybe his voice has given out with all the shouting of a night but is this a bit odd/excessive?

It makes me and DD jump when it starts and it is not just one shout but several until his daughter comes in.

I just wonder if this is strictly necessary when either of them could walk 30 seconds to where the children play and collect her rather than bursting the ear drums of the entire close!

AIBU in thinking this new development is a bit

My Dad was a fireman and he often thought it would be funny to embarrass me by shouting my name in the middle of the street in front of all my friends using his megaphone. I can see the funny side now....

Not agorophobic as goes out to work everyday on his bike, daughter may have hearing problems but surely it would easier to go find her rather than making our ears bleed.

DH has just got home and told me it is an England design one so may be football related!

That sounds rather over the top ...

...I just run a flag up our flagpole to signal the end of designated external gambol; as I'd imagine most people do.

Odd

Magalyzz he never answered the phone anyway - we all had to answer it for him as he was a self employed mechanic and my mum always did the bill! I think the most annoying thing was that I hardly ever used the phone - I think he just decided I was a teenager and this was what should be done. My mum thought it was crazy too but kept her head down. we all laugh about it now.

I think you should get together with all the other parents and arrange to get one each.

Then wait for him to come out on his doorstep to call his DD and all start calling your kids in unison.

Then post the video on youtube and a link on MN.

Go on, I dares yah.

If it's an England one - maybe it's just a phase?
