I don't want to go out with my friend, she's thinner than me.

There, I said it.

OP posts:
Bonsoir · 21/05/2010 18:01

But is she as pretty as you?

EccentricaGallumbits · 21/05/2010 18:02

or as rich?

KurriKurri · 21/05/2010 18:02

or as clever?

EricNorthmansmistress · 21/05/2010 18:03
Hmm
Lakota · 21/05/2010 18:03

YABU. But you know that

So what? Is she prettier? a better dresser? Funnier? Cleverer? Who has better behaved kids?

I sympathise though. Am fairly slim, but majorly unphotogenic. Several of my friends look fab in photos and I always look appalling. And often fatter than I do in the mirror. So perhaps am not even that slim. Sob

morethanyoubargainfor · 21/05/2010 18:03

or even as funny?

Bingtata · 21/05/2010 18:03

I moved away from a mum at the park today - she was really stunning. I was aware that she was making me look even worse than usual

AWellHungParliament · 21/05/2010 18:04

I bet she has as many body hangups as you though.

autodidact · 21/05/2010 18:04

But is she a famous prisoner of war camp like you?

waitingforbedtime · 21/05/2010 18:04

YANBU

I stupidly chose a bridesmaid who was a size 6 and gorgeous. I am a size nottelling

Still, she is nice enough!

muggglewump · 21/05/2010 18:06

My friend once said that to me (I'm the thin one), and as I said to her, she is so funny, and friendly and easy going, I just stand there looking sour, wishing I could think of something to say!

Go out and have a brilliant time, and really don't think confidence is based on weight, mine is zero and I'm thin, my friend has loads and is not.

cyb · 21/05/2010 18:07

Oh I get this ALLLLL the time now

Squitten · 21/05/2010 18:56

I have 2 close friends. One is basically a black version of me in looks - broad shouldered, tall, carrying a bit too much weight and not particularly "beautiful". The other is a small, petite girl with lovely Meditteranean looks, very slim, always wears lovely clothes and nice makeup and basically looks great.

You know what? I'm married with one kid and another on the way and my other friend is getting married next year. My gorgeous friend is single and is struggling to find a man and is very envious of me and my friend because we have what she wants! Even though she's pretty, she suffers from very odd insecurity issues that mean that she's actually a bit afraid to get involved with guys.

Looks are not everything!

marriednotdead · 21/05/2010 19:11

YABU. She's your friend for reasons other than dress size surely? I have thinner prettier friends and fatter less attractive ones. None of us considers their size unless deciding who gets in the back of my 3 door car

YANBU.

Obviously.

BallpointPen · 21/05/2010 19:43

Dump her then join a slimming class to pick up new friends then dump them too when they lose weight, you'll always be the thinnest then.

pointydog · 21/05/2010 19:53

Key question: how much slimmer is she than you?

BritFish · 21/05/2010 20:02

kill her. or tell her how gorgeous she is and how you feel like a frump next to her and then she'll lavish compliments on your ego
she's not one of those people who is drop dead gorgeous and heartbreakingly lovely at the same time is she?

JaneS · 21/05/2010 20:07

Make her wear a tyre round the middle. Or ensure she meets a lovely man and gets up the duff, pronto.

WhatsAllThisThen · 21/05/2010 20:07

What's her face like?

Ivykaty44 · 21/05/2010 20:11

I had a friend like that

bibbitybobbityhat · 21/05/2010 20:12

All my friends are thinner than me [sob].
