in struggling with the Jacqui Smith interview

She's on TV explaining how terrible it was for her children to hear their mum described as a sort of thief and how unfair it all was.

That's after she's had us all paying for her huge house for years through some iffy expense claims of her own making, while the half the country struggles to pay their electricity bill.

Does the wretched woman still not get it. She's been described as a sort of thief because she is a sort of thief. She actually thinks she's the victim here.

Unfortunately, if you go into politics you are always going to have people say mean things about you. I agree with her that it must be hard for her children. Personally though, I am far too sensitive to be able to lead a public life, so have made the choice not to be a pop star/screen siren/ politician.

mountainmonkey · 20/05/2010 09:28

She did something wrong but her kids shouldn't have been made to suffer.

BariatricObama · 20/05/2010 09:30

she is a pita. just shut up and go away jacqui please

Rockbird · 20/05/2010 09:32

Following guidance is no excuse. These people knew what they were doing was questionable. Someone higher up that chain of people with questionable morals giving them the nod is no better.

And the fact that they still can't see why the public have reacted like this says it all.

weegiemum · 20/05/2010 09:34

I'd be more worried about explaining her husband's porn use to her kids myself.

BariatricObama · 20/05/2010 09:35

i always say her name with a gutteral french accent. it amuses me

cupcakesandbunting · 20/05/2010 09:47

She's an odious woman and a twat of the highest order. I chuckled when she was crying when she lost her seat, the only time I've ever been happy to see Tory beat Labour.

Diddums, you claimed for stuff you shouldn't have and some people said bad words about you. If I'd claimed expenses that I shouldn't have from my employer, I'd be facing a lot worse than a few scathing comments from spectators so count yourself lucky, you hatchet-faced boot.

oliviacrumble · 20/05/2010 09:54

Bit harsh cupcakes . She's obviously completely in the wrong, but "hatchet faced boot"?

I'm with Bessie on this one - my innate sensitivity prevents me from scaling the dizzy heights of public life.

cupcakesandbunting · 20/05/2010 09:56

That's just my opinion (and the opinion of a lot of people in her former constituency) I don't expect anyone else to suscribe to it.

Kathyjelly · 20/05/2010 10:07

Bariatric Obama, maybe that should Jacqui Antoinette.

Did she think her kids would never grow up and figure it out?

OldMacEIEIO · 20/05/2010 10:27

It's an interesting moral question this, because weve all done it, even if its only a ball point pen from the bank.
The difference is that Jacui held herself up as a paragon who was in it to serve the nation, then we found out that she wasn't and that she was in it to serve herself.

My estimation of the woman went down when she bought a donner kebab, wearing a stab vest, escorted by a couple of policemen. I mean, how are you supposed to get donner all down your front if you are wearing a stab vest
