As long as you keep his bum off his dhs pillow, that used to be my dhs concern

Poledra · 12/05/2010 23:12

As long as he doesn't snore............

booyhoo · 12/05/2010 23:12

i would do it but i wouldn't let OH know as he would go mad. he doesn't know the cats sleep on the bed with me when he's away. they try it when he is here and he thinks they must really like him because " they dont do this any other time" ha, dear sweet OH.

Vallhala · 12/05/2010 23:19

My dogs always sleep on my bed.

(Disclaimer: I'm divorced, through no fault of my dogs!).

They'd still sleep there if I was still married (would be a bit of a squash though, they're big dogs).

And if DH didn't like it and said it was him or the dogs?

Close the door quietly as you leave darling, the dogs are asleep upstairs!

KurriKurri · 12/05/2010 23:21

In this house its more a question of whether the dog and I let DH sleep in the bed.

hatwoman · 12/05/2010 23:42

he comes onto the bed every morning for a cuddle. so it's not like he's not allowed.

Hatwoman - sometimes i allow my dh onto the bed for a cuddle in the morning too ( once the dogs have gone for a wander)

at pogleswife.

I'm quite disappointed ladies. I was half-hoping to be jumped on by the anti-dog uber-hygienic brigade.

(I did let him btw. cat at my feet, dog at my side...)

not enough room between the us and the children to think about dogs in bed as well!

darkandstormy · 13/05/2010 14:46

As long as he brings you breakfast in bed

emsyj · 13/05/2010 18:08

We let 2 cats sleep on our bed at night (one on DH's pillow, the other between us at about chest level) and they're a royal pain in the ass with their snoring and stretching and hair-shedding (both black on our white sheets), but we feel too mean to kick them off so on that basis YANBU.

I often say to DH that we will have no hope of resisting whatever unreasonable and lavish demands DD (due in 4 weeks) might come up with as a toddler & teenager, given that we are unable to take affirmative action against the cats by kicking them out of the bedroom.
((sigh))
We will end up on one of those 'we sent our spoilt brat to the dessert to trek for 3 months' TV shows in a few years.

emsyj · 13/05/2010 18:08

desert

Oenopod · 13/05/2010 18:20

My dog would get on the bed if he were big enough to reach. (Small dog, high bed)

And I'd let him... much to my mother's disgust when she found out our previous dog slept with us.

We suffered duvet stealing and him ending up between us with his head on the pillow every morning. Doesn't do much for the sex-life. The dog once snapped at DH for attempting to approach me.

The current dog runs around barking and howling if we attempt any kind of marital relations with him in the room - it's most off-putting.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 13/05/2010 18:27

You're all brave, animals are banned in our bedroom since the cats used to wake us up more than DD about 10 years ago. And when I saw the dog drinking out of the toilet earlier, I was doubly glad we have that rule !

ande · 13/05/2010 18:35

When I was a little girl I used to love to curl up in the dogs' bed (by the aga) and snuggle up and nap. When I was bigger I snuck the dogs up to my to snggle up on my bed which I would keep pushed up to the radiator. There was no reasoning with me. I was militant.

Alouiseg · 13/05/2010 18:38

Awww! Yanbu, if my dog didn't snore like a drunken Godzilla i'd let him sleep on the bed.

He falls asleep next to me most nights but big bad dh tempts him downstairs with some puppy milk for a night time treat.

herladyshiplovesedward · 13/05/2010 18:42

emsyj i am rofl at the thought of teenagers trekking through knee deep custard.. now that WOULD be an entertaining programme!

in relation to the thread i don't think i could sleep with an animal in my bed

TiggyR · 13/05/2010 22:05

My dogs aren't even allowed on the sofas, never mind upstairs - it's for the best really, they are too big and boisterous and muddy and I'm too lazy/inconistent at wiping their paws. But sometimes, when DH is away I really get the urge to sneak them both up and put one either side of me under the covers. I never do, as I know it would be the beginning of the end. They'd take over and there'd be no room for me.
