Shre was too ill for school this morning, since then has been fighting and playing with dd2 all morning, eaten virtuslly everything in the house and skipped all the way to drop dd2 at nursery.
When I said I was ann9oyed and I have taken a day off work to look after you, and I won't get paid, her response I'll pay you I've got loads of money.
Anyway I have now insisted that she at least behaves ill.

Can you swaddle a child her age??? make her watch bargain hunt as punishment

YABU. She should be upstairs in bed, eating only chicken soup and reading school books.

I have one of those...I'm making her watch a DVD.

But I'm really enjoying my day off! I've done loads of tidying.

Its very naughty indeed. I would take her in and make her apologise to the teachers for lying.

diddl I agree although without brute force not sure how i'd go about that. she is definatley learning that staying home if you are not ill is very very boring.
I'm quite enjoying my day off too, my mum is taking them for there tea later so I may even get a little nap. you wouldn't have any trouble making me lie down if i'd called a sicky that is for sure.

my ds is never 'ill' now.... if he says he is then i remind him that he can only eat toast,soup and 'poorly tummy yoghurt' (natural yoghurt with no extras) and lay on the sette watching my programmes..

if he would agree to all that, i'd keep him off

I'm obviously a Nasty Strict Parent then- anyone too ill to go to school is too ill to do anything other than stay in bed. They may come down for lunch and then later in the afternoon they might watch a bit of tv. And it's an early night that night too, 'to get over it'.

Sick days are few and far between here.

YANBU, I'd be the same as buddysmama, and have certain sick day rules. Things that they'd only appreciate if truly unwell.

My niece played my sister along for 3 days a few weeks ago, I had to mind her for the days as sis had work. At my house she was fit as a fiddle, as soon as her mum arrived she was too weak to even speak!

They can be crafty little things, so it would do them no harm, and if they're genuinely ill, all you have done is look after them well. Win win situation!

Ach, c'mon you bunch of meanies.
There's a pretty broad spectrum of not-wellness, isn't there?
