i really wanted to know if justice was done, like everyone else who read it, but it's vanished...

OP posts:
DaftApeth · 11/05/2010 18:06

It has vanished

I was reading it today a earlier today

What happened, why was it deleted?

Was it 'Tracey'?

JustMyTwoPenceWorth · 11/05/2010 18:07

It's gone? Why? what happened?

I was following that! Who's tracey?

cookielove · 11/05/2010 18:07

Whos 'tracey'?

BigBadMummy · 11/05/2010 18:07

I believe, and I didnt follow all of it as it started before I joined, that the twunt who pushed the MNetter was given a fine and made to pay costs.

Certainly I recall it being viewed as a victory for the MNetter who pursued it.

Nobody somebody not so vague will be along shortly. (its been a long day)

JustMyTwoPenceWorth · 11/05/2010 18:09

yes, last time I checked it, he had decided to plead guilty, I seem to recall.

silverfrog · 11/05/2010 18:10

I think he was found guilty, had a fine and to pay costs.

Why on earth has it been deleted? I was only reading it yesterday (I think) and it was fine then!

aSilverLining · 11/05/2010 18:10

I was on the thread and watching it too, hope twofalls got a good result in court.

Hate when threads disappear - I want to know what happened!

AuntieMaggie · 11/05/2010 18:12

yes he had to pay a fine and costs

why was it deleted?

AchillesTortoise · 11/05/2010 18:12

Justice was done as he pleaded guilty and got a fine and costs.

But then someone came onto the thread claiming to be the shopkeeper of a shop two doors down.

He/she claimed that the OP's account of what happened was not accurate, but sounded quite unconvincing tbh.

There was suspicion that it was perhaps the original shopkeeper(s), but no way of knowing. I think the name written on the thread by the shopkeeper was that of the OP so I expect she probably asked for it to be deleted.

I only caught the start of when the other shopkeeper started posting, so maybe there was more after that.

AchillesTortoise · 11/05/2010 18:15

Actually, come to think of it, the shopkeeper charged with the assault and his wife were named and there was a link to their shop. Perhaps that had more to do with it being deleted! Although he was found guilty so not sure how it could be libellous...

DaftApeth · 11/05/2010 18:17

A poster came on and said that they worked in/owned a shop a couple of doors down from the shop in question and, basically, accused Twofalls (TF) of lying, etc. Poster said her name was 'Tracey'

'Tracey' then threatened to show a pic of TF to all the shopkeepers locally so that she would not be able to use any of them.

Everyone told TF to report her to the police.

JustMyTwoPenceWorth · 11/05/2010 18:17

well, the shopkeeper pleaded guilty, so someone coming along and saying it didn't happen like that should have agreed to go and back him up in court instead, then he would have said he was innocent and produced a witness!

The fact that no witness from 2 doors down went to support him and he changed his plea to guilty, makes me think this tracey person must be full of shit.

GypsyMoth · 11/05/2010 18:19

Perhaps mnhq could explain the deletion??

It's happening way too much on mn at the moment

DaftApeth · 11/05/2010 18:19

Oops. Cross posts with lots of you.

If it was because the shop was named, I would have thought they would have just deleted that post.

BTW, TF feel free to report my previous post if I shouldn't have mentioned the name again

katkit · 11/05/2010 18:22

omg thanks for the update. shopkeepers from hell!

OP posts:
AuntieMaggie · 11/05/2010 18:26

doesn't TF live miles away from where it happened anyway?

GColdtimer · 11/05/2010 20:51

hello everyone. i think there are two threads on this now and because DD2 is crying I will just copy what I put on that one:

Basically Mumsnet decided to delete the thread because of identifying details. Whilst i understand and did consider getting it deleted myself at one point, in hindsight I think it is a bit of a shame as it was such a long running thread and showed MN support at its best I think. We could have just deleted the posts where people/places were identified but I do understand their decision.

For anyone who is still confused, to cut a long story short I was involved in an incident where a shopkeeper pushed me out of their shop after his wife had been aggressive and I questioned her attitude. This happened last August and bascially I pressed charged and the shopkeeper eventually pleaded guilty and got fined - it only got resolved last week. The thread was pretty epic (over 600 messages) and showed MN support at its best. Not sure I would have seen it through without all the lovely MNers cheering me on.

Then, someone claiming to be from two shops down came on defending the shopkeeper and threatened to post my photo to other shops in the area saying I had spread malicious rumours or something. I think MN decided to pull the thread because it was all getting a bit personal. In hindsight perhaps I should not have named the shop but it is a matter of public record.

Anyway, that is what happened to it!

NetworkGuy · 11/05/2010 20:54

Yes, AM, TF and her witnesses live miles away. Perhaps it got some more posts from the 'other' shopkeeper and it may have simply made sense to remove it. I looked at it today, and given the CPS took it to court, the comments made (suggesting TF had claimed something she didn't) were blatantly false, it might have been TF wanting some closure.

Someone had queried how the thread was found but as there was a link from the thread to the shop website, it could easily have been tracked back, and then shop owners may have spent a considerable time reading all the comments.

Best for all to know there was a fine, and costs, so the bully didn't get away with it, and Tracey, "shopkeeper" and ex-police (or so it was claimed) will have vanished into dim distant memory in a week or two.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 11/05/2010 21:06

I started a thread as well ! Twofalls this is almost like having your own fan club I think it's a shame the other thread was deleted. Hope all future shopping trips are uneventful Twofalls.

Casserole · 11/05/2010 22:00

How ridiculous.

Quite agree that "Tracey" would have been called as a defence witness if there were anything to this story.

What disgraceful bullying tactics.

Twofalls if you have any more trouble from "Tracey" or friends I would suggest the police should be contacted.

I hope this isn't detracting from your victory, where the man who assaulted you and your family pleaded guilty and received a fine for the crime that he admitted committing. Let's just let those facts stand.

aSilverLining · 12/05/2010 08:05

So he was found guilty and got a fine is that right??

Glad he didn't get away with being a thuggish bully and hope they think twice in future. Well done twofalls for seeing it through to the end.

TheGodmother · 12/05/2010 08:22

LOL your picture going up in the shops, no great loss to you two falls is it, shouldn't imagine you'll be visting there again in a hurry? All the retailers are in-comers and are just looking to fleece the tourists anyway.

The only good thing about the place is the P PPPP PARK

Anyway great news on the outcome, I've been watching the thread from the start!

NotActuallyAMum · 12/05/2010 08:26

aSilverLining - iirc he pleaded guilty, which was good because it meant TF didn't have to go to court

twofalls I honestly think you should tell the police about what "Tracey" threatened to do, that's surely witness intimidation even if the case is closed

I know one thing - I will never visit that place...

RiverOfSleep · 12/05/2010 08:51

Twofalls well done on your strength and determination. I would report the madshopkeeper 'Tracey''s latest little stunt to the police. Surely MNHQ could let them know the IP address?

I bet no other MNetter will have Bourt anything from them now!

Casserole · 12/05/2010 12:05

Yes very good point about asking MNHQ for the IP address. I would have thought that the police would be very interested in that information. It is not right that a victim of a crime was harrassed on here like that.
