Makes me cringe everytime I see it typed. Awful phrase which makes me lose respect for the posters who use it.

OP posts:
pjmama · 11/05/2010 14:58

I'm amazed at how many people use the word "loose" when they actually mean "lose".

AnyFucker · 11/05/2010 14:59

how about get over it

hehe

< runs away >

georgiemum · 11/05/2010 14:59

cleaver and clever

BunnyLebowski · 11/05/2010 15:01

OMG I was pondering posting this just this morning .

It does my bap in.

People who say/type 'simples' = complete idiots.

AnyFucker · 11/05/2010 15:02

I think I used the phrase "simples" this very day

< sacrifices self >

georgiemum · 11/05/2010 15:02

I haven't heard anyone using this? As in meerkat ad?

SloanyPony · 11/05/2010 15:02

I said "End of!" to my preschooler the other day and was instantly ashamed of myself. Then he said, "no, its not end of!"

TheStraitsofWTF · 11/05/2010 15:03

You lose respect over one word?! Man, you're high maintenance.

whatwasthatagain · 11/05/2010 15:03

Simples - very annoying. Also hate 'of' instead of 'have', as in 'should of'.

AgentZigzag · 11/05/2010 15:03

I was thinking that this morning OP, but I didn't like to come on and offend the people who say it.

I don't mind hiding behind backing you up though

TheStraitsofWTF · 11/05/2010 15:04

Bunny, surely people who judge others' intellect on the basis of one word are not looking too bright either?

AgentZigzag · 11/05/2010 15:04

I hate being called naive, esp when they can't spell it properly

AnyFucker · 11/05/2010 15:04

I might consider taking up the phrase "does my bap in " though

I like the ring, the poise, the gravitas of that one...

am teasing, btw

EarthMotherImNot · 11/05/2010 15:05

"laters" does it for me every time,
the word is later,
it has no plural and when used regularly by a 50 something woman is just wrong, it's wrong if a spotty teenager says it so stop it you silly woman

sorry, woman drives me batty at the best of times

TheStraitsofWTF · 11/05/2010 15:05

fwiw, I don't like it either, but if it's a particular thread you're talking about, then it's a direct ref to the meerkat advert.

Tiredmumno1 · 11/05/2010 15:06

Oh you naughty girl AF get back here for your spanking

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 11/05/2010 15:06

I use simples, usually in response to some ridiculous post. An idiotic post deserves an idiotic answer.

BunnyLebowski · 11/05/2010 15:08

It's a colloquialism from my glamorous Morn Iron upbringing .

Just to clarify I don't hate 'simples' because it's grammatically incorrect.

It's people adopting it from that damn advert and thinking they're funny because of it.

The same kind of people who wear novelty ties in your office and describe themselves as 'wacky' and 'crazy'when they're really just irritating.

AnyFucker · 11/05/2010 15:08

oo yes please, TM

BunnyLebowski · 11/05/2010 15:09

Obviously I meant Norn Iron .

bibbitybobbityhat · 11/05/2010 15:09

Yes, but all of you who hate simples (not keen on it myself but it doesn't make me incandescent with rage) are bound to use words or phrases that drive other people equally bananas. I find I have no respect for posters who have no respect for posters who unwittingly annoy other posters with a relatively innocuous phrase.

Floopy21 · 11/05/2010 15:09

What's a bap? A head? I think I like it...tests out 'does my bap in' in the office...odd looks all round. O.

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 11/05/2010 15:09

yes, I do feel saying "simples" is slightly less abrasive than saying "now off you fuck, you thick twat"

WombFrootShoot · 11/05/2010 15:10

YANBU

I have decided that the next time I'm speaking to someone and they say a "schimples!!" that I am SIMPLY going to kill them.

AgentZigzag · 11/05/2010 15:12

A bap is a bread roll or norks round our way floopy
