because I want to walk into a furniture shop and yell at the top of my voice

I ordered many items of matching wooden furniture on the 4th January
After lots of discussions and messing me around,I still haven't received and refuse to take some of the order until they can supply it all.
Ten days ago I put in writing that my deadline would be the 10th may.....it was ignored!
I have spoken to the director today and he was the most arrogant man .....he actually said "hang on a minute, you came into the shop, you liked the furniture, most of it is here so I don't see what has changed to make me want to refund your money and cancel the order"
The atitide at all times has been that I should sympathise with them for the inconvenience of having to chase it up!!!

I would go in the shop when it really busy and start yelling! Put other people off. My Dad did a similar thing wehen a solicitor was doing a similar thing over a hiouse my parents were trying to buy. The embarrassment factor won and he did the outstanding work very quickly.

Never yell - it gives them the moral high ground. But go in when it's busy, and firmly, but calmly put your case to them, in a loud enough voice for everyone in the shop to hear. It's far more difficult for them to roll their eyes at the 'difficult customer', if you're not aggressive.

Don't blame you for wanting to shout though.

Are they a chain store? If so, say you're writing to the press... Works for me every time...

Is it possible that they know the other items have been discontinued? If so you probably wouldn't want some of the set and it would be reasonable to cancel it.

The quiet firm way is the best and yes just loud enough that other customers know and will hesitate to buy.

Dont take delivery until you have it all, I work in a furniture shop and we have had a nightmare couple of months trying to get deliveries together because of companies going into liquidation, I suspect that they are trying to get you to take some furniture so they can get your payment for those pieces, is there any chance they are struggling to pay their accounts or are they a big chain who think they have better things to do. Do you want to cancel or do are you angry at the customer service, if you do actually want to cancel you have no right to do so unless you have noted in the original order that you require the furniture for an exact date. You can try to establish a timescale by attempting to gain agreement from the shop in writing that they will supply by a certain date. If you manage that but they dont deliver you may be able to cancel.

You cant demand a refund under distance selling regs because you have actually viewed the furniture in store, If you are just angry about the poor customer service then that is another issue but doesnt really get your furniture there quicker have they given you an idea of how long it will be is it a well known brand of furniture that you could find online in which case you might be able to find out if there is a problem in the supply chain or if the furniture store havent been paying their bills.

Might be worth talking to trading standards before you go to see exactly what your rights are and so you can quote them at the store manager while you are there complaining, rather than having to go and do it after the event.

They will also know if other people have reported having any problems with the company and if there is a pattern emerging.

Did you pay on credit card? HOpefully you did as that gives you more chance of getting refund if everything does go wrong and you can't get your stuff. fingers crossed that you get everything you want though!

Have they given you any indication of why there is a problem with some of it and when you might get the rest of it? If they said that some of it was stuck on a container ship due to dock in a couple of weeks you would know that you could given them three weeks to get it to you and that would be reasonable. However if they have no idea where your bits are then completely reasonable to expect to call it a day!

The contract actually says delivery 10 weeks.It is now th 19th week.
Trading standards have said to give one final weeks notice and explain in the letter to him that he is in breach of contract.

I understand why you want to yell but no dont do it (but no YANBU to want to)

I would do like trading standards says give the notice of the final week and explain in the letter that they are in breach of contract.
In the letter also state that if the ALL the furniture has not been delivered within this time then you will consider the matter closed

I wouldnt waste my time to go in there why get yourself inconvinient further?

But do you still want the furniture, are you going to spend longer trying to find something else somewhere else. I agree tell us who it is so we can avoid them.

Don't yell in the shop unless you are actually yelling at the rude director, otherwise you might be yelling at some poor shop assistant who is not responsible for the delay.

Working in customer service is rotten.

YANBU to want to shout though, and indeed to expect a refund!!
