was on the bus this morning on my way into work...feeling really tired and a bit out of it...not in mood to read my book...man in suit gets on and sits next to me...gets out his blackberry and starts punching in things very officiously...I am tired and close my eyes for a bit...then open them and my eyes rest on his blackberry...I end up glancing at his mails and messages as he goes through them...not really intentionally but tired and nothing else to do...once or twice he puts it back in his pocket and then yanks it out again and keeps going...I'm alternating between eyes closed, looking out window and sometimes glancing at his thingy when I realise he is typing "are you enjoying reading my mails and messages?" in his little window thingy... I have to say it was a miracle I didn't laugh outloud...I was so tempted to say "no not really they aren't very interesting" (was all very boring "can you do a meeting ? blah blah blah" stuff...

I KNOW it's rude to read over people's shoulders etc (though I must admit am guilty of that too when I am bored) but really, surely if it bothers him that mch he shouldn't go through all his emails etc on a packed bus?

Anyway, am sure some of you will be appalled but I thought it was really funny...

Ha ha
what a twat he sounds

YellowDaffodil · 11/05/2010 12:07

Yes YABU - you should have laughed out loud!

HerBeatitude · 11/05/2010 12:12

I would have had to get my phone out and texted "yes I am"

LaDietrich · 11/05/2010 13:09

ha ha ha

so I am not alone in thinking he was being a twat then

[interesting, I half expected a "you rude woman you should be ashamed of yourself" bollicking...]

I am actually laughing here. That's the funniest thing I've heard this week!

BessieBoots · 11/05/2010 13:39

have to admit I did feel a little flustered initially, but then I quickly realised how hilarious it was and all feelings of flusterdom disappeared in a great cloud of "what a twat" ism

Ha ha love it

He wanted you to read them reeeally, he was looking to see if you were, otherwise he'd have been far too busy to notice!

ChippingIn · 11/05/2010 15:25

cupcakesandbunting - did you miss TSC's swimming pool shame thread???

LaD - how did you not laugh?? I do the same thing too, I think it's the movement that attracts your eye, it's not intentional is it.

PeedOffWithNits · 11/05/2010 15:53

I think he was hoping to chat you up!

MorrisZapp · 11/05/2010 15:57

I don't get it. I can understand - and I share - people's annoyance at having to hear other's people's inane mobile phone convos on the bus, but why are you bothered aboiut somebody presumably silently sending messages?

Can somebody tell me in what way this man was a nob.

Thank you.

LaDietrich · 11/05/2010 16:05

morrisZapp - I wasn't a bit bothered about him silently sending messages - I was on a public bus, in a public space, what right would I have to be annoyed?

he was obviously annoyed at my idly reading his messages and typed that message in order to get his irritation across to me...rather than saying something (which would have embarrassed me no end although I'd still suggest unjustified) or indeed just putting his toy mobile away til later if it bothered him so much

it was HOW he did it that cracked me up - I just thought it was hilarious...

If you were in Hollywood, this would be the start of a romcom.

Chandon · 11/05/2010 16:12

It was funny, as he caught you, but the joke is on you.

He did nothing wrong.
