to be concerned about my neighbour

I live in a terrace house, next door are flats, over the last year or so my husband and I can hear the neighbour in the downstairs flat screaming 'you fucking bastard' over and over and over again, its faint but when the Tv is off you can hear the words clearly. The lady never says hello, and seems quite odd, she lives alone.

We have just had our small town garden cleaned up so at long last my little ones can play out the back, we were out in the garden yesterday playing in the new sandpit, and the neighbour started sreaming 'you fucking bastard' again, over and over, seriously loud, and for quite a long time, my girls were really scared, to behonset I was too, it was very very disturbing, I took them indoors straight away of course.

What should I do? should I do something??

She sounds like she has some sort of MH issue, if you're sure she lives alone.

TBH the only agency I think you could call would be the police on a non-emergency number. If you call Social Services they may send someone round in about 6 months but if she doesn't answer the door and invite them in they'll go away again, the council won't do anything so although police may seem a bit of a heavy handed option, tbh I think it's the only one available.

unless....is it council/HA accomadation....if so,you could complain, and start the ball rolling that way?

It could be Tourettes Syndrome which is sad for your neighbour but your children shouldn't have to live in fear over this. Try nagging the Social Services and say your children's well-being is suffering because of this problem.

Hmmm, I wondered if it could be Tourettes, but it sounds like shes actually arguing with somebody, erm, but theres nobody there, at first we thought it was her screaming at the neighbour above her, but my I saw him leave the house so it couldnt have been aimed at him,.. it ended yesterday with her screaming ' Baaaaaaaaaaaaastard' on the top of her voice then one long very very loud 'Aaaaaaarrrrggghhhhhh'.. then silence?? weird.
