yesterday she went out with her friends, i told her to be back by 5.15pm in time for dinner.

at 5, she called and asked if she could stay later. i said no, as was getting ready to dish up dinner.

she got her at 5.30

yesterday she said she lost track of time on her friends trampoline, then changed it to playing in the little woods. then today said she thought i said she had to leave at 5.15.

because of this, i have said she cant play out tonight, but if she behaves then she can tomorrow. but dd1 ia throwing a strop about it.

i have explained to her why i have no to going out tonight, but apparently, she wants to pla out tonight and not tomorrow and weds (weds she hs been invited to her friends place)

YANBU

She knew the rules and decided to break them. She has to take the (perfectly reasonable) consequences.

Poledra · 10/05/2010 15:53

YANBU. You told her when she had to be home, reinforced it when she called you, she knew she was breaking the rules. Consequences should (and will ) ensue.

NewBirdOnTheBlock · 10/05/2010 15:57

YANBU
It is the only way she will learn the rules. If you start bending them, she'll push more and more. Enforce them now and she'll go along with them
In theory anyway

it's your choice dd1 if this strop continues then you won't be playing out tomorrow night either so I suggest you get over it

but then I'm a witch

KiddingAnxiously · 10/05/2010 16:57

YANBU Very fair and considered.
