Took dds swimming today, DD1 age 3.6 swam by herself for the first time today, no arm bands or anything to keep her afloat, it was only a couple of metres but I'm so proud of her.

And DD2, 18 months, swam brilliantly with armbands. So proud of her too.

They both dunked themselves too, (although why it's so much fun in the pool and yet the tiniest splash of water on their faces in the bath results in a meltdown, I still don't understand!)

yanbu (although I am slightly jealous as 4 yr old ds has his feet firmly planted on the bottom of the pool at all times)

well done, that is fab! Dd 2.5 doing v well with arm bands atm, i'm hoping she'll be able to ditch them at the same sort of age as your dd
