To be pissed off with all the youngsters on mopeds revving the engines and zooming down our street?

There are 7 kids under the age of 9 living on the street, 3 of them are under 5. All playing out.
Our neighbours son is 17, he repairs mopeds for fun, and there is usually a group of 4 -8 teenage boys, revving their engines and zooming up and down the street, with little care of the smaller children.

I am really getting pissed off with the situation, and worried that a small child will get hurt one day. The way it is now, the entire street is annoyed, and the peace is spoilt by this ONE boy and his umpteen noisy mates.

His parents wont say anything to them, he think it is i better if WE complain directly to the blokes. But come on, I am not about to walk up to 9 17 year olds and ask them to keep it down due to my kids bedtime, or tell them to mind it.

Am I?

YANBU. In the slightest. Have a word in the boys ear, if there's still no joy phone the coppers.

Can you tell we have similar issues and I have little patience left?!?!?!

But the police is rather overdoing it??

His parents are very nice. ...

Go out and be really polite. Say "I'm really sorry, I understand you want to drive around in your car and that's fine but I am abit worried about the youngsters playing, you know what they can be like! Do you mind terribly if you go to another road, or wait until they go in?". Worth a shot if it works. At the end of the day, even if they are twats and need a tennis ball up their exhaust, honey catches more flies. And it's the end result that's important - the kids safty.

moped sorry

police without a doubt, community copper perhaps.

Yanbu. I hate noisy mopeds. I don't know what I'd do - we have idiots driving them up our road (and other speeders as it's a straight and wide road) but just put up with it. I think they should be banned!

We have had similar problems down our street. The police have asked me to send in registration plate numbers and they'll try and catch the kids on something, whether that be illegal modifications or no insurance. However, it's not that easy as once you've heard them, they've gone.

We have tried talking to them but it makes little difference. They might stop for a day or two but then it begins again.

It doesn't even look like fun! They just go EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE up and down, up and down the road all day. They don't go anywhere (to work might be an idea...).

Humph.

You have my sympathies.

If you take the index numbers and report them to the police, they can be given a warning about anti social use of a motor vehicle which can result in seizure if they take no notice...ask for some PCSO presence in the area too

this one is a little time consumming but worth it.

wait till your little LO's are off in the street in bed and then sprinkle a handful of carpet tacks or even just some wood nails onto the road where they are most likely to run the bike over.

Can't really drive a bike with a flat (or hopefully 2 flat) tyres....

Alternatively you could do what my brother did and stand in the middle of the street and pull the 17 year old off the bike as he goes past.....
