i think its disgusting.

as if they are saying, we are marks and spencers and are posh, therefore don't want you single parents shopping here with your "poor people's vouchers", piss off to asda, you are lowering the tone.

the look on the cashier's face when i tried to use my vouchers in there, snobby bitch.

Have only read the first couple of pages so sorry if I am repeating someone but it always confuses me how people get stressy about others getting this sort of thing.

It is worked out according to income so if your household is on more than (I think it is) 15000 a year then you aren't deemed to need them. Iknow there will be some who are only just above this which is difficult but its not always about whether you work or not, plenty of lone parents work and still have an income of below this.

I find the £3.10 a week doesn't go far but is a great help. Personally I'd rather be earning more or have a dh who is so would be more than happy to not need the help. Just as I would rather have the means to have a mortgage than need HB.

Yanbu. At the m and s near us butter is 85p a pack. It is at least a pound in the tesco and that's when it's on offer. M and s have a much better relationship with their dairy farmers according to farming today (up silly early feeding ds). this is a good reason to support them. Being skint doesn't mean you are not allowed to make choices that reflect your morals. ↲
Once you give someone money,or in this case vouchers, they are theirs to spend as they wish. ↲Undoubtablyw many things at m and s are more expensive but some basics are not. Eg Salt is 20p which is about a fifth of the price our corner shop charges.↲Also markses don't put wierd stuff in their food. Everything on their ingredients lists would be at home in your kitchen cupboard. You would struggle to find this in many supermarkets and if you did i have no doubt they would charge a huge premium for it. ↲Yes i agree, it would be daft to do all your shopping there but for some items and treats it can be a good choice. ↲I wouldn't be suprised if big supermarkets agreed to accept them on the grounds that others eg netto, were not allowed.
