To take all my children into my bed tonight?

I've just had 4 lovely Police officers check all around my garden after somebody walked round the side of my house (we're very secluded) and tried to get in my back garden. My Husband is on night shift!
I'm thinking that if somebody does break in I'd rather they we're all in teh room with me! So I an lock the bedroom door!

Sounds reasonable Wonka, what a horrid evening for you.

pookamoo · 04/05/2010 23:01

Poor you! I would, but can you do it without scaring them?

EveWasFramed · 04/05/2010 23:03

Oh, wonka...that's awful! I don't blame you at all...

paisleyleaf · 04/05/2010 23:03

Have your mobile in with you too.

Spatchadoodledo · 04/05/2010 23:04

I would! (and have when been freaked out and DH was o/s).

Say you are having a special book picnic in bed and snuggle up in jammies and read to them (assuming they are young enough!)

Glitterknickaz · 04/05/2010 23:05

oh you poor thing
YASNBU
I'd get DH home too if I was you... but then I do freak out!

stealthsquiggle · 04/05/2010 23:05

Agree - all DC + 'phone in bed - how old are they? Could you just tell them you are lonely with DH @ work?

Plumm · 04/05/2010 23:08

I often take DD into bed with me when DH is away - it's just a little daddy being away treat.

wonka · 04/05/2010 23:12

Thanks I've just lifted the oldest and the youngest through have moved the travel cot and the air bed in for the other 2.. nobody has woken up yet have the house phone and mobile (in the movies they always cut the phone line!) and the laptop.
have phoned my Mum and DH... he can't leave unfortunatly not that kind of job!

Aw you poor thing that's awful, try not to worry too much. If the kids ask just say it's a fun sleepover treat or something.
I really hope they catch the idiots, all the best, try to pop a nice film or read if you're having trouble sleeping xxx

wonka · 04/05/2010 23:30

Thanks we were burgled two years ago so I'm probably more jumpy than necessary
The boys are all totally unaware, they're all under 7 they won't mind a snuggly night!

Do it otherwise you'll never be able to sleep they'll love it.

stealthsquiggle · 04/05/2010 23:35

I am thinking the 4 police officers + torches will have put them off and they will be looking for an easier target (or, hopefully, have gone home). However, snuggle down with your boys and stay safe.

Do you have an alarm? Neither DH nor I slept properly after we were burgled until we had an alarm that we could put on downstairs when we went to bed (and it had a panic button in the bedroom as well) - the good news being that we never had cause to use it.

wonka · 04/05/2010 23:45

I have an alarm that is now set too.. I'm sure they are long gone.. Its just horrible I need to start drawing the curtains. We've had teenagers coming and pressing their noses up against the windows looking in I think they think they're being funny.. but this was a man. I'm making this sound like the bronx.. Its a leafy quiet village! Well I'm switching of in the vain hope of sleep! Thanks everyone!
