The BNP is becoming more popular largely because it is the only party who will deal with the massive problem of immigration. Most of the rest of what they have to say is sickening but when the major political parties don't want to even admit that a major concern for most voters is even an issue some people seem to feel compelled to vote BNP to make the main parties think. Of course if too many people do that the consequences are terrifying. My dh floated the idea of voting BNP for this reason until I bombarded him with evidence of all the other horrible stuff a BNP vote consisted of (thanks MN by the way for making all the evidence I needed so easy to find)

BetsyBoop · 03/05/2010 10:11

I think you are being unreasonable to burn them - collect them & shred them & put them in the recycling, far kinder to the planet

I'm just sitting here gob-smacked that anyone who calls themselves a Christian would support the BNP. Surely you only need to hear 5mins of Griffin spouting his bile to know he's about as far from acting in a Christian manner as you can get? (well I take that back, there are worse people in the world, but not many )

shockers · 03/05/2010 10:11

I'm in the north and if the BNP got a seat in my area, I would seriously consider moving. I already have NG as my MEP which sickens me.

Racism fails to take into account the behaviour of the individual and instead concentrates on something a person cannot change (and why should they want or have to?).

I want my children to grow up as responsible adults who choose friends, partners and associates based on their personal qualities, not on their colour or culture.

I am a Christian and am really concerned that someone else who professes to be would associate themselves with the BNP. WWJD chickydee? Join the BNP? I think not.

The BNP represent christian values? I don't think so. My christian friend did the political compass test and she gave the answers that she thought Jesus would have done. He came out with views closest to the green party... left wing libertarian.

EazyJ, im not asking anyone to agree with me setting fire to leaflets. its a waste of good future bog roll.

and no, i dont think the BNP should be allowed to run or even be a party because they are racist, no two ways about it, and racism is not acceptable in any shape or form ever, ESPECIALLY not in charge of a country!
racism isnt a negotiable issue. its wrong.

if a Peodophile party ran, and they had lots of policies that i agreed with, but were still peadophiles, i wouldnt be bloody voting for them and id set fire to their leaflets, i dont see why the BNP is any bloody different.

just read the bit in the BNP manifesto about a penal station in South Georgia. Now I'm living in the Falklands and South Georgia is two weeks on a boat from here - how the hell would they pay for the costs of building it and getting people out there?
Don't like to be picky but it's always nice to realise that the people you fear are a little stupid!

cory · 04/05/2010 08:09

Jesus, now just remind me...wasn't he the one that sought political asylum in Egypt? If you lot had been in charge, chickadee, he would have been given 5 grand and posted straight back to King Herod.

chickydee · 04/05/2010 08:30

Racism, racism, racism, racism, racism, racism, racism, racism, racism..
Thats all YOU'RE seeing.
Gordon Brown holds everyone in this country in contempt, he made that very clear, now I DO NOT agree with everything NG says, I, personally, am not rascist, but do you have to agree with EVERYTHING the party leader says to vote for them?
Here, the BNP is standing to improve local services, make the place safer for children, provide bins for dog shit, and, on a greater scale, to bring home the soldiers fighting in an illegal war that HAS SOD ALL TO DO WITH US.
As i said, my oh and I do alot of voluntary community work.
I was brought up to believe do unto others as you would have done unto you, and i have brought my children up with the same values.
I relish the idea of being able to shoot some git who breaks into MY home, I want the soldiers in Afghanistan home and safe,I want the ILLEGAL immigrants to go home, and i want it made clear that this country is NOT a soft touch.]
How many Immigrants are here illegally, sponging the benefits system, plotting some bloody terrorist attack against us, whilst all the time our pensioners, those who fought to give US our freedom, are starving or freezing to death?
Is THAT Christianity????
Oh and all those of you who say you're glad you know my views so you don't have to talk to me on here, like I give a SHIT!

"Oh, and illegal immigrants cannot get enefits."

Ssh Riven, don't confuse them with facts.. they've probably not seen them before.

cory · 04/05/2010 08:39

Chikydee, if someone is an illegal immigrant- how on earth can they claim benefits? Of course they can't, so the situation you are outlining simply isn't happening.

weegiemum · 04/05/2010 08:46

I'm really quite shocked that someone would use being a Christian as justification for being in the BNP.

And to be honest, the tone of the post where she says she would relish the chance to shoot a burglar, that's not Christian, that's terrifying right wing vigilante extremism - its not even fundamentalist, its worse than that.

I'm a (somewhat evangelical) Christian and I almost always vote as far left as I can!

I believe in freedom of speech but the BNP sicken me. I got a leaflet through - the slogan is "Get Even - Vote BNP". Whatever happened to "turn the other cheek"?

I suspect that the BNP are only standing in our constituency (Glasgow South) as the LibDem candidate is an Asian woman. Its a very ethnically diverse area, the only reason for standing can be to give offense - from my lounge window I can see houses belonging to people whose ethnic origins are in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Korea, China, Ireland and the UK. My neighbours, my friends.

I think Jesus would detest the war in Iraq, yes. But I don't think that He would think it was appropriate to vote BNP to make that point.

weegiemum · 04/05/2010 08:49

And you know what else, I think we should be proud of the fact that our country is somewhere that people want to come. That those who need to seek asylum from oppressive regimes think that the UK is a safe place.

The more diverse the better!

I wouldn't read the New Testament if I were you, chick. There is this character in it called Jesus and he has bizarre ideas about things like turning the other cheek. You might find it very unsettling.

Just read the bit on the bnp website about doctors, nurses, cleaners and porters not being recruited or retained from outside of the uk. I'm a nurse from the uk, but if those were the rules, from a department of around 300 people I would have very few colleagues left. That would really improve healthcare for my patients and 'stop superbugs' wouldn't it?

Jackstini · 04/05/2010 09:24

Chickydee - you would relish the chance of shooting someone who broke into your house and you think you are a Christian????!!!
I am ashamed and saddened that you think this is Christian behaviour. Am pretty sure Jesus would not agree with you.
