I heard him being interviewed this morning on the Today programme.

Firstly, it turns out he's not racist or against immigration! Apparently, he says it's ok for French people to come here (there's not that many that want to so its ok). AND he says that Irish people can come here too because they're really all British! So that's nice. I was a bit confused because I thought they'd spent all those years bombing us because they didn't want to be British but I guess I've got that all wrong.

He's not going to let Algerian asylum seekers come though, but I don't think it matters because they'll just get killed where they are in their own country so that won't be a problem for them much longer.

And the best thing is... he's going to give £50,000 to anyone who's not "pure British" to leave the country and go back to where they came from! How cool is that! So I'm now deciding whether to go back to my Great-Grandmother's origins in Russia, or my Great Grandfather's in Finland. Now, apparently this money is going to come from what he called stupid anti-Climate Change projects so although much of Russia and pretty much all of Finland is a bit chilly, as the climate changes because they money is being spent on me, they'll get warmer and I'll be all toasty!

Ummm doesn't the fact that DP is married to a non ethnically British man show that her support for the BNP is about more than simple racism... I'm sure lots of people who support the BNP are married to less than 'pure' Brits tbh.

You can want a large reduction in immigration without it being about race. Maybe the problem is that the 3 main parties are ignoring the issue, even though it's appently the 2nd most pressing concern for the majority of voters, leaving people feeling the only party who will really do something is the BNP? I'm sure if there existed a party who campaigned for a large cut in immigration but did not want any form of repatriation and left behind any racial motives etc they would get a lot of support. At the moment there seems to be no middle ground, most people aren't happy with the level of immigration yet the BNP is too extreme for them.

Exactly SK....That's the choice you have now...either support one of the 3 main parties who will never take the immigration issue seriously (the tories possibly ? but even they're scared of looking too right-wing) or you go for the BNP ....that's it... there's no one in the middle.

SK, the problem is that a 'large cut in immigration' doesn't make any sense unless there is a racial motive behind it. So no normal party is going to campaign for it.

Given the rate of emigration, the working population would decrease year by year, and we wouldn't be able to get in skilled workers to fill gaps of training/ability in the 'native' population.
We're having trouble funding our pensions as it is (3/4 of benefit spending!) and it ain't going to help.

While walking down the street one day a Member of Parliament is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

'Welcome to heaven,' says St. Peter.

'Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you.'

'No problem, just let me in,' says the man.

'Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.'

'Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,' says the MP.

'I'm sorry, but we have our rules.'

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly & nice guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises....

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

'Now it's time to visit heaven.'

So, 24 hours pass with the MP joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

'Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.'

The MP reflects for a minute, then he answers: 'Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.'

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. ' I don't understand,' stammers the MP.

'Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable.

What happened? '

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, ' Yesterday we were campaigning.. ...

Today you voted.'

DP you say you are just trying to support British born people, not every British born person is white, the Bloody Nasty Party seem to only like the white ones!

Ok, I will clarify instead of assuming you will understand.

Obviously there needs to be immigration control, this is why we have the points system. This is why it's incredibly difficult to even get a tourist visa to come here from most of the world.

But to stop immigration completely a la BNP - do you stop emigration as well? Or do you just let the working population dwindle away with time? What would happen to the economy? Who's going to pay your pension then?

The only reasons you've ever been able to give are basically bollocks 'Ooh, they come here for benefits and a council house', when they're not actually eligible for either unless they've worked here. See here for example, to help.

So this is why no normal political party would seek to stop immigration, and thus why most people are working on the premise that the BNP are racists.
That and the previously mentioned convictions, holocaust denial etc.
And them saying that even if you're born in Britain, you're not 'British' unless you're white.
Oh, and the fact that every time you get a hidden camera near them, you catch them saying something gob-smackingly racist.

DP whats this policy about repatriation that I understand NG is advocating? Do you know that its not only white/ingiginous British that pay taxes and contribute to this Country. Myself and my dh for one and many of my friends are from another Contry originally and pay taxes, own their own home and contribute to this country. What do you think would happen to this country if anyone with even a hint of foreighn (sp) connection in their blood was repatriated? This country would go down the tubes thats what!
