...to take poorly child to Asda so I can buy shoes?

That sounds terribly selfish I know but she is actually not that ill. She has a chest infection, is on antibiotics, is not quite up to going to school today but will be tomorrow (fingers crossed).

I have the chance of a rare night out tomorrow but need shoes for it. Won't have chance tomorrow as working and taking dd to party then straight out...

So am I being a terrible mother to nip to Asda with her?

No, YANBU unless you plan to spend all day there!

how old is she - can she stay in the car?

missmoopy · 29/04/2010 11:17

She's 5 so can't leave her in car. was just going to pop in, buy shoes and pressie for her friends birthday, then come home.

No she'll love getting out and about...go get your shoes..she can have a wee sleep and you can pamper her when you get back.

Go shoe shopping - just don't let her cough on anyone else.

queenclarion · 29/04/2010 11:21

I thought that you actually don't catch chest infections, I thought they develop from something? Perhaps I am wrong. I would go to Asda and just keep her away from people.

itmustbewineoclock · 29/04/2010 11:28

You can catch a chest infection. But if you take her in and out quickly and she's not coughing all over that place it's probably ok.

missmoopy · 29/04/2010 11:31

It was result of nasty cold. She is quite good at covering her mouth when she coughs.

I brought ds out for tea and cake (for me!) when he was on antibiotics for an ear infection. He cried and I felt like a bad bad mother. I think if she's near the end of it then it's grand.

We went, bought shoes and foundation, and she got a new toy! Everyone happy!
