to think they shouldn't take all the magazines out of surgeries?

I went to the docs today waited 25 minutes and couldnt find a thing to read- except for all the factual posters all over the wall.
A lady who I sat by said the lack of reading material was because of germs!!!
Am I being unreasonable to think this is taking things too far!! I know we arent entitled to magazines although it does make the waiting easier- I just think it is a bit extreme!! What does everyone else think??

i agree, my doctors has also taken the toys out of the waiting room because of swine flu...

I have never touched a magazine at the doctors.

I think it's bloody ridiculous. Are they going to start sterilising the door handle after each patient touches it? Make the GP sit behind a plate of glass? And perhaps ban us from using the toilet at the surgery, there must be loads of nasty bugs in there!

I don't know if it about germs as such as much as the fact that having a waiting room with magazines and toys implies that targets and appointment times are just a very generous guess ...

The toys are usually missing bits and I have never come across a mag printed after 2008 ..!!

I wouldn't touch a magazine at the doctors either. I would prefer my own personalised waiting room also.

If I walked into a hairdressers or beauticians and the cleanliness was of a similar level i would turn around and walk out.

I think that it is a ridiculous idea. Whatever next. Everything you buy at the newsagent comes in a sterilised bag? You get germs anywhere and everywhere. You are not going to get anything from a magazine that you would not catch in the street.

Well you might if someone had just sneezed whilst holding it, or had impetigo!
