Yikes, that's gross! When my mum comes to visit she sits on the sofa and picks her feet, then touches my kids/crockery etc. Yuk yuk! My DH wants me to raise the issue with her...

DorotheaPlenticlew · 24/04/2010 17:00

I had a new pair of sheepskin boots for Xmas (the kind you do not need socks with) and before I'd even worn them MIL put her grubby dead-skin-covered feet into them and wriggled her toes into the pile, commenting on how comfy they were.

LackaDAISYcal · 24/04/2010 17:03

they're only feet, and if they were clean feet......

NarkyKnickers · 24/04/2010 17:05

what if it was suncream or a bit of moisturiser? think you are being unreasonable!

Bucharest · 24/04/2010 17:20

Bum cream would be much much worse though.

Numberfour · 24/04/2010 18:17

LOL at Bucharest!

It is rather yucky, I agree.

A friend come over to fetch her son who had spent a few hours at ours with my DS (can you see I am trying not to say "playdate"???) and she proceeded to pick dirt out of HIS TOENAILS and flick it on the floor before she put his shoes and socks on. Another time she sat on my couching picking her toenails and when she got up, there were bits of nails on the couch.

She has not been around for a very, very long time. [grossed out emoticon]

APassionateWoman · 24/04/2010 18:19

Don't you put sunscreen on your feet?

DorotheaPlenticlew · 24/04/2010 19:50

I do use sunscreen, sure, at the beach or outdoors or something. Or I put it on before going out.

But the OP had me imagining someone sitting beside an indoor pool (I guess because most public pools here are inside) and just randomly removing shoes and moisturising dry feet to pass the time. Which is a bit odd, I reckon.

And the feet of someone who is not literally just out of a bath are, frankly, never really quite so clean that you'd want to shake hands with someone after seeing them rub their own feet.

LackaDAISYcal · 24/04/2010 20:50

fair enough if she had the ped egg and flexitol out, but she may have just come out of the showers at the pool....

but i don't think you ABU, just overly squeamish

hellisotherpeople · 24/04/2010 21:01

having your feet out in public is 'yuck'... hate summer as every bugger, no matter what disgusting state their feet are in, slips on a pair of flip flops. gives me the dry boak.

cyb · 24/04/2010 21:03

I am def squeamish about feet. When folk nonchanlantly slip their shoes off and put their bare feet up and I can see the grimy soles. HAve they no shame?

Pozzled · 24/04/2010 21:08

Really can't see the problem TBH.

StealthPolarBear · 24/04/2010 21:09

Why are people so odd about feet?

StealthPolarBear · 24/04/2010 21:10

Although it makes a nice change from breasts - only on MN could the shout "urgh, cover them up" be aimed at feet

cyb · 24/04/2010 21:10

I dont know why I am odd about them. I just am. Its one of my things. I look at popeles feet all the time, and am absurdly jealous of anyone with petite pretty feet

Greensleeves · 24/04/2010 21:11

I like seeing people in flip flops, it makes me feel happy

in a vicariously carefree sort of way (my feet are trotters)

apart from fennel because she has lovely flip flops and I covet them

I detest dh's feet though. They are like big blocks of stilton on the ends of his legs

cyb · 24/04/2010 21:12

Men in flip flops make me deeply suspicious. they ahve to have VERY brown feet to carry it off

hellisotherpeople · 24/04/2010 21:28

men in flip flops are the pits. especially when teamed with those beige cut off trousers. seems to be some sort of uniform round these 'ere parts.

cyb · 24/04/2010 21:28

yes and their legs and feet are the same shade as the trousers

SlartyBartFast · 24/04/2010 21:36

i think it was for dry skin, i think it was aimed at the heels,
eew, then she rubbed her hands together, to get the nice cream into her hands

OP posts:
SlartyBartFast · 24/04/2010 21:38

defintely odd i agree, imo she should have waited til she got back to the car at least.
