...the woman in the massive red volvo who attempted to reverse into a small space next to my car, despite the hundreds of spaces everywhere else who drove straight into the side of my car and then drove off knowing I had seen her.

THANKS for the 300 pound repair bill a week before my sons fifth birthday and my own birthday, when I am the breadwinner for a family of four and have a five month old child who eats money. THANKS for making me half an hour late picking my son up whilst I stood around waiting for a police report and cameras to be checked. And most of all THANKS for the arrogance and ignorance that showed that there is no way you couldnt have missed what you did - I was halfway across the car park and heard the crunch as you put a thirty centimetre wide dent and smashed my light - but you still didnt have the common courtesy to get out and apologise. THANKS for reminding me that manners in this country just dont seem to matter a jot anymore no matter what damage you inflict on someone elses hard earned property.

Thanks very much and I hope you and your stupidly large car are delightfully happy together.

GRGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR - IAMBU I should be threatening to take a baseball bat to the witches car if I ever see her again but honestly what the hell gets into people to behave like that - I would be horrified to think I had cost anyone but especially a young mum that much money through pure carelessness.

Oh no! Did the camera get her reg?

I was really hoping your post was going to end with it all being on camera.

MudandRoses · 23/04/2010 21:51

blimey. I feel your pain.

prettyfly1 · 23/04/2010 21:53

No I really wish that was the case but they didnt catch it - apparently the cameras are just for show on everything but the ground floor.

YABU.
Stop bloody thanking her...!
I hate Volvo drivers and before now I had no other reason than they poke out at junctions.
Thanks, now I have another.
I did that once an I was so mortified I ended up being a taxi service to the woman I drove into while her car was getting fixed. We're friends now

thehillsarealive · 23/04/2010 21:55

prettyfly, did you manage to get the registration, was anything on camera?

I feel for you - this happened to me once when I had my DH Merc! Some silly cow reversed into mine, got out to look at damage, got back into her car and drove off! Luckily for me someone saw the whole thing and took her reg, car type etc.

SpringyThingy · 23/04/2010 21:55

PS Sorry Volvo drivers, I realise my prejudice is unfounded and I do check myself whenever I generalise against them in RL!!!

LynetteScavo · 23/04/2010 21:56

We could have a MN hunt for a red volvo with a dent in it!

prettyfly1 · 23/04/2010 21:58

LOL - loving the mn hunt. There will be a list of volvos with scratches on the way I wish so much that I had got the reg - I got the make and model but I was halfway across the cp as she pulled out with my baby in a car seat so I just sort of stopped in shock and she swung round the multistorey before I could catch it.

ps springy thingy - your becoming friends thing is sweet - life would be so much nicer if everyone was like that.

OP posts:
darcymum · 23/04/2010 21:59

could the camera on the ground floor have got her reg when she drove out?

prettyfly1 · 23/04/2010 22:01

actually darcy nobody thought of that - I will harrass them tomorrow to find out.

Yanbu at all - but I have to ask - how does a 5mo eat money? Babies are so cheap! It's when they get older it gets expensive, or so I thought.

prettyfly1 · 23/04/2010 22:07

really - this one seems to cost a fortune - my five year old is much cheaper. Constant clothes, washing, equipment, nappies, wipes, milk, teething stuff blah blah blah - I will be doing some serious cost cutting for a month or two thanks to this though so I will be hunting for money saving baby tips.

OP posts:
MrsSawdust · 23/04/2010 22:27

Clothes - charity shops
washing - use half amount of detergent, no difference
equipment - ebay
nappies - do more nappy off time (good for baby too - bonus!)

Back to the damage to your car - can you claim it on your insurance?

prettyfly1 · 23/04/2010 22:32

I could do but my no claims isnt protected and my excess is 200 so it really doesnt seem worth it for the amount the repair will cost.

Is half the amount of detergent really effective? If thats true that would be a good way to cut down. I love charity shops and I am going to sling a washing line across the garden to cut down on drying costs. Now if only I could run into that woman again.........................

OP posts:
SpringyThingy · 23/04/2010 22:38

I use 1/2 the amount after washing machine repair man told me to - machine hasn't broken down since .

Also, stop leaving your money out for the baby to eat...I don't think its in the Annabel Karmel books?

prettyfly1 · 23/04/2010 22:43

springy - I know but he likes it so much more than the damned rice.....

OP posts:
Joolyjoolyjoo · 23/04/2010 22:47

grr for you. But the only comfort is in karma. I would never do something like this and then drive off, as I know karma would get me back- and I'm sure it will come back to bite her too, pity you might not be there to see it..

SpringyThingy · 23/04/2010 22:55

At least put some mashed banana on i first...can't be much fire in money. Although I don't know, mine seems to go straight through me ;)

SpringyThingy · 23/04/2010 22:55

it fibre bloody keyboard!

thehillsarealive · 24/04/2010 10:56

think i prefer 'fire' than fibre.
