To HATE going to the hairdressers?

Is it just me? I thought women were mean't to find the whole experience pampering & relaxing- I just come out wanting to kill someone!!! Why is what I want done always wrong? I either need it cut slightly shorter/longer than they want it, or want the wrong type of fringe. All I want to do is have it cut the length I want it with a few layers & a front bit that pushes back, but oh no. I have to have straigteners, backcombing, hairspray & a full discussion on why what I want is not trendy!

AIBU?
Maybe I should go to the barbers next time

Sorry, needed a rant before I explode!

hahaha this is quite strange to listen to frm the other side!! i can assure u i am not snooty or judgy vivandarkbloom, u shouldnt say we all r!!

i dont judge my clients for colouring their hair at home at all, its a hard time money etc, but when they come in with hair so dark and say o just want it nice choc brown, u cant just put another colour on as home colours have matalic salts etc etc in them its a huge job to change that,u need to cleanse it out,
take the hair bk to its natural undercoat etc and takes hours and hours so those of u that have been in after a home col and not had this treatment that is y ur not happy with ur col,
ur stylist is not experianced enough!!

and ur stylist must always look at ur hair dry u r totally right, most peoples hair looks same wet that is lazy and unprofessional, plus ask for a wet cut, i prefer doing cut and finish as 60 % off the work is done dry so i ask my client if she would mind if i rough dry it, so i can see my cut, most people seem happy with this!! or are they faking like u lot?? how many of u have ever told a stylist ur not happy?? bet not many eh!!

so cant win because those of us that 'charge the earth' ur paying for time and experiance of stylist. i am going to tell the other stylists about this thread as its quite amazing how many of u hate it

Oh Dear, I love going to the hairdressers.
Have been going to the same one for around 10 years, and he is the best.
lots and lots of chat about music, bands and stuff, and cups of coffee and the occassional glass of wine.
My daughter loves my hairdressers too, as the owner has a little dog, who tends to be around much of the time, and they have the best music in there ever!!

I love my hairdresser too. I've been going there since 1998. Before then I hated going to the hairdressers with all the inane chat and obsession with drying my hair in a style that wasn't 'me'.

My hairdresser knows so much about me that I just say 'do what you want' and I have noticed that over the last year my hair has got quite a bit shorter but it is suiting me and my (mother of 2 toddlers) lifestyle. He is good at not making a fuss about my super-thick hair. He serves me nice (sometimes alcoholic) drinks and most of the other stylists are men who've been there for ages and have a few tales to tell. They never offer me a head massage!

A few years ago I moved quite a distance away and tried a few local hairdressers but have gone back the original man - it makes a whole afternoon now for a hair cut but it's worth it. I'll need to start dying my hair soon and I look forward to extending my time there.

So, all I can suggest is trying different hairdressers. I think you have to go to each one at least twice.

Colour aside, they charge too much.

I don't know how so many stay in business, tbh.
