Opinions needed quickly - party invite for party tomorrow?

Ok so it's my DD's party tomorrow, sent the invites prior to the holidays. A couple of non-RSVP's (don't really care) but asked her to ask her friends this week just as a reminder and apparently one of them didn't get an invite (her name was on the list but may have crossed it off prior to writing the invites to whittle down numbers but due to a couple of 'can't comes' there is space for her). Anyway, do I send in an invite today with a note saying 'sorry for the late notice and I appreciate it if you can't come'. Or just not? DD's not bothered but she said she'd like it if she came (about 13 kids in all so not a whole class but not an intimate one either). Anyone?

I'd invite. No reason not to.

I would be tempted to word the note on the assumption that the first one went astray, rather than a last minute invite.

GreatBallsOfFluff · 23/04/2010 06:56

that was my worry too fascicle - that the mother may think it's a last minute invite. Any ideas on how to word it?

agree with fascicle - "sorry, invite seemed to have gone astray, DD really hopes your DD can come"

not sure about "last minute", sounds like, as you say, "there have been a couple of can't-comes" so there is room for you now....

hope you have a great party!

x-posts, sorry!

How's this:
"Very sorry but it seems that the original invite has gone astray. DD hopes that your dd can make it but I understand if you can't"?

Agree with GreatBalls & Fascicle. I would be offended if I thought my dd was an afterthought to make up the numbers, which is how it will look if you don't explain properly. Happy birthday to your dd.
