Silly people who stop at traffic light two or three car lengths behind the bloody line. In effect, they are using three car lengths of the road, and possibly preventing someone at the other end of the queue from getting over the previous set of lights.

Even so, they reduce the number of cars that get through the green light this time because they have created 'phantom' vehicle in front of them, thus increasing congestion and slowing everyone down further..

Selfish selfish selfish selfish selfish selfish selfish selfish morons.

I love this thread. Was thinking of starting one about the moron driver of the huge 4WD with a sticker on the back stating that it was the 4WD of the year, slowing almost to a stop everytime he went over a speed hump.

coralanne · 23/04/2010 11:15

Aren't these things designed specifically for off road driving, and they can't even go over a speed hump.

Runningwithscissors · 23/04/2010 11:22

pedestrians who walk in the road right by your car when you're trying to park - surely no jury would ever convict if I gave one a discreet nudge with my bumper

IMoveTheStars · 23/04/2010 11:24

haha, you've just reminded me of when I saw a car like this, but with even lower spoilers trying to go over very high speed bumps.

tres amusant. The cracking fiberglass noises just added to my glee

Sidge · 23/04/2010 11:41

People who drive cars they can't park. I waited to get out of my space at the supermarket this morning whilst a woman made 14 attempts to park her Renault Clio . I very nearly got out and offered to park it for her.

I also hate middle lane drivers on the motorway, people who don't indicate, people who tailgate and people who smoke in cars with children in.

IMoveTheStars · 23/04/2010 11:57

14?!

OrmRenewed · 23/04/2010 11:58

Drivers who SLOW DOWN on the approach to a green light! Why?

Sidge · 23/04/2010 12:17

Yup Jareth, 14. I sat and counted as I couldn't get out of my space until she had parked, I had nothing better to do!!

If the sun hadn't been shining I don't think I would have been so patient

Southwestwhippet · 23/04/2010 12:20

Was just about to typed Drivers who slow down on the approach to a green light but ormRenewed beat me to it

Also people driving 4WD (usually RangeRovers) who not only refuse to slow down, pull over or reverse to allow you to pass on a narrow lane but actually accelerate agressively whilst waving their hands at you. Especially when you then reverse 200yards round 3 bends to find a place to pull over and they don't bother to thank you - just roll their eyes at you for'holding them up'. Oh and then when you drive on you discover there was a pulling in place about 6 yards behind them that they were too arrogant to use. I love 4WD but I f-ing hate it when people drive them like ignorant twats.

IMoveTheStars · 23/04/2010 20:13

I thought you were meant to slow down approaching a green light - can't find it in the highway code, but it's what my driving instructor told me.

I think it's because people run lights, there may be emergency vehicles crossing the junction, and because it may change at the last minute.

Obviously the people who slow to a crawl, just make it through the lights, just in time for them to change leaving you behind need kicking up the arse

Fizzfiend · 23/04/2010 20:24

driving down a London street that only has space for one car (most of them!)

After a stand off...sometimes I have to reverse even when it makes more sense for them to do it (closer to junction etc). So I make sure I do it REALLY slowly...I'm crap at reversing anyway. By the time they get through, they wish they'd reversed instead. HAHAHAHAHA MAD EVIL LAUGH!

CarGirl · 23/04/2010 20:28

The people who don't pull forward enough at the lights in their cars to trigger the weight activated sensors.

After 3 very long cycles, I had to get out of my car (2 behing) and tell the woman to move forwards, I don't think she had notices as she was too busy enjoying her cigarette...

IMoveTheStars · 23/04/2010 20:30

CarGirl - yes... agreed! I try and drive round them if there's room

[realises she's a bit of a pushy driver]

coralanne · 24/04/2010 04:47

OrmRenewed, I'm slightly guilty of slowing down when approacing a green light.

Had a nasty car accident 10 years ago taking my DD to tennis early in the morning.

DD and my dear mum were in the back seat.

Half way through the intersection, another car went through the red light.

Spend 3 weeks in hospital and 4 months off work. DD had 4 operations on her face to remove glass and poor mum had broken ribs, broken glasses, (lost her false teeth

Up until then it had never occurred to me to check the road either side of the lights. All I knew was tht I had a green light and had the right of way.

I don't slow down very much, just enough to look right and left to make sure no idiot is coming through the red light.

OrmRenewed · 24/04/2010 19:40

You don't need to slow down, just keep your eyes open.
