perplexed to discover that at least one person I know finds it 'depressing'

I have no idea what you are on about but LOVE your name!!!!

Ok, just checked it out and sorry, I too find it could be music to hang yourself too.

That said, if you like it, who cares?

Pikelit · 20/04/2010 15:05

YANBU. I love it. Really uplifting. But I do think some people just hear "Leonard Cohen" and dismiss everything he's done as depressing.

winnybella · 20/04/2010 15:08

I love LC but am not crazy about Anthem. Much prefer older stuff.

Mouseface · 20/04/2010 15:15

Agreed, winny.

Sorry OP should have said I found Anthem depressing.

MitchyInge · 20/04/2010 15:18

even if you just read it as a poem? obviously the voice/music not everyone's cup of tea

The words are beautiful, you're right, it's the melody that I found on the grey side.

I did make the mistake of looking at it on YouTube after your OP.

leonard cohen IS weird, leaves me in odd mix of horn/grief/rage

might be time to put some Abba on or something

(is hard not to imagine doing the sexuals with him isn't it, even though last time I saw him he was 70ish )
