to be absolutely furious with Comet delivery

I bought a washing machine there a week ago, at my local store, 10 minutes away (Bangor, north Wales). We bought an ex-display one, but they said we could still have it delivered.
First delivery date they could do was this week, so today I'm waiting in for it.
Delivery time is 8am-6pm, and they can not under any circumstance give me any clues as to when in that 10 hour slot it will arrive.

Turns out that it's been taken to the depot. And the depot is...in SKELMERSDALE!!!! I live 10 mins from the store, they've taken it to Skelmersdale which is at least 2 hours away, in order to deliver it back to me 10 mins from the store!!

Is that the most stupid waste of time and money you have ever heard of? I'm furious.

I've never bought anything from them, but wouldn't now you've said you can't get a hint about the delivery time out of them. Everyone we've had deliveries from in the last few years has rung on the day, put the time on their website or something.

Essie, did you buy an extended warrenty?? because just to inform you comet are cunts (pardon the language) if you have bought one they will fob you off that the manufacturors warrenty is invalid DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM!!! It does not cancel out the manufactorers warrenty at all. I listened to them and am now having to pay for repairs to the home cinema i bought from them. Also if the washing machine does not sound right etc make sure you contact them within 28 days of purchase (not delivery) or they will not exchange/replace the item only repair and they will do that until it is no longer able to be repaired.

Oh, Jeez, it gets worse then! Thanks for the tip, Evenstar! We got 3 years warranty free because it was ex-display.

It's still NOT HERE.

Had to speak in the defence of Comet. They are not all bad, my local store manager brought the tumble drier I had bought off display round to my house in the back of his car after work and carried it in and unpacked it from its bubble wrap for me and took the wrapping away for me. He wouldn't accept anything in thanks. Like everything it depends on the individual you deal with, Sounds like you've been unlucky, but don't tar them all with the same brush.

you agreed to wait in 8am-6pm yes? Well they havent delivered yet but it isnt 6pm yet. You agreed to those terms so you must have been happy to do that. What does it matter if they do laps of the multi story carpark on the way as long as they actually get it to you by 6pm!

I have had massive problems with comets fitting service before I I felt justified in complaining but I can't actually see what they have done that makes you so angry with them.

Not saying they wont do somthing by the end of the day tho

What a waste of resources. You'd think it would be cheaper all round for them to hire a van locally or load in the back of a mates/staff 4x4/big car and get it to you!!!

It's a logistically stupid and unsustainable way of going about things but if you've agreed to an 8am-6pm slot then so far, Comet are keeping to their side of the arrangement. Ergo you are currently wasting valuable anger.

I don't buy things from retailers who can't be more precise about delivery times. At the very least you should expect an option of morning or afternoon.

i also got 3yrs warrenty on my dryer as it is an ex display model....they were meant to be here yesterday to repair it
