To think the new daleks look like Smarties

With their new colours. Not scary at all. Why have a sofa if you don't have to hide behind it because the Daleks are not scary.

Feel a bit cheated.

yanbu how can an orange dalek be scary?

Lutyens · 17/04/2010 19:46

I liked the rusty Daleks serving Churchill much better than the new ones. Agree with your comparison to Smarties. They're just too slick and shiny! I can see them twirling in front of a mirror admiring themselves. "Tell the Doctor he'll have to wait, I haven't done my hair yet."

I love the orange dalek. I love the new doctor as well, and I was not taken with him at first.

agedknees · 17/04/2010 19:58

New doctor is good, but new dalek's too pretty.

Bring back the mangy dalek's.

new doctor growing on me, but Amy is beginning to get on my nerves, bit of a know-it-all.

Thought the new daleks looked beefed up. Perhaps the different colours have different powers

retiredgoth2 · 17/04/2010 20:04

I thought they looked as though they had been designed for a Scissor Sisters promo.

Very butch...

wildfig · 17/04/2010 20:10

They look like Mini Metros. Very mid-eighties colour scheme, but with better build quality, you'd hope.

agedknees · 17/04/2010 20:10

They should stop feeding the daleks steroids, thats what I say.

missmoopy · 17/04/2010 20:24

I rather like them...

plummed · 17/04/2010 21:15

I did expect the doctor to come out with a witty wisecrack when they emerged in all their Technicolour Dreamcoat splendour. But, alas, I was disappointed. Has anyone else notied how soppy the writers are getting these days? All this love will save the world - have they secretly employed J.K Rowling?

jurisfictionoperative · 17/04/2010 22:23

The new colours remind me of the colours in the Tefal kitchen appliance range! 'all toasters and kettles available in orange, red, green, yellow and funky blue!! its all a bit john lewis for me!

CarGirl · 17/04/2010 22:25

Think it's obvious, that way you have to buy several daleks to have the set - def a marketing ploy.

MillyR · 17/04/2010 22:25

I think the new doctor's brow is somewhat too furrowed. I prefer it when his fringe is over his face.

JaneS · 17/04/2010 22:42

I thought they looked like Teletubbies.

Churchill was great

MrsMorgan · 17/04/2010 22:44

Have the coloured daleks been in any very old episodes ?? Ds swears he has seen them before.

cornsilk · 17/04/2010 22:45

They were fat daleks.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/04/2010 22:51

they had big bums.

cornsilk · 17/04/2010 22:52

They did.Too much smash.

jurisfictionoperative · 17/04/2010 23:06

My dad says that the daleks were coloured originally, in the beginning the different ranks were different colours! apparently! Although, surely they were in b+w at first? anyway, thats what he says!

Mermaidspam · 17/04/2010 23:30

They look like stage props for JLS.

UnquietDad · 17/04/2010 23:50

jurisfictionoperative - your dad is both right and wrong. The original Daleks were silvery-metallic and were indeed filmed in black-and-white - first time we saw them in colour on the TV show was 1972. But there were coloured Daleks in the Peter Cushing cinema films.

1960s TV Daleks

1960s movie Daleks

Cloudbase · 18/04/2010 14:23

I just knew you were a Dr Who fanboy as soon as I saw your name!

lolabug · 18/04/2010 20:14

I want one.

MrsSaxon · 18/04/2010 20:15

I thought that they looked like a new range for Le creuset
