I went for a look and couldn't work out why they were describing us as 'itchy' and 'itching'

Seriously, I don't really see the need for a swear filter. Half of mumsnet would end up being deleted.

Lol

those contractors that visited couldn't say Scunthorpe on their board!

JustMyTwoPenceWorth · 17/04/2010 09:39

Fair play to them.

I wish we didn't swear all the time on here. It's not funny, it's not shocking and nobody's impressed by it. [cat's bum mouth emoticon]

I'd love to do an experiment - have NO swearing on here for 24 hours. Not one word. See how people fared.

I can't remember which board it was but a MNer went on and typed snigger which came out something like s[black person]

nannynick · 17/04/2010 09:54

Wonder if thats the same board which won't let you post the word Mumsnet
More than just a swear filter, it's a rival filter as well.

purepurple · 17/04/2010 10:05

I have posted about sniggering in scunthorpe. It hasn't been filtered.

I remember testing someone's worm email filter. Rather stupidly, it used to send you a report listing why your email had not reached its intended recipient and gave you a score for each word used! Some words scored more highly than others but not necessarily as you'd expect (although Scunthorpe was OK).
