About 3 hours after I dropped son round his Dad's got a phone call from ex saying he had lost the kids (son 4, child from previous relationship 11).

Apparently he had let them walk home alone from the town centre (about mile and half) crossing many busy roads and a very busy A road. They were meant to meet half way, but when he got to where he thought they had agreed to wait, they werent there so he phoned me.

You can imagine all the things going through my head as I left work to drive over there and find out if my son had indeed gone all the way home.

He acted as if he had done nothing wrong, didnt even say sorry until he realised how angry I was and had pointed out that actually if anything had happened to them, he would have been charged with neglect.

have you found the kids?

Oh yes, they were both safe and sound waiting outside his front door much to my relief.

Can't even begin to imagine what I would have done if they hadn't been.

Phew, not just me then. Still early days - he only moved out a month and half ago, and even though I was the main person asking to end the relationship I'm finding it a lot harder to adjust than he is.

ummm the relationship stuff isn't relevant here, i don't see why that would make him think this was ok?!

i wouldn't be letting him have them unsupervised until he had a parenting lesson about what is and isn't appropriate!
