to think that cyclists should concentrate on the road and not

... cycling no-hands, earphones in and texting as they go?!

Drove past a cyclist doing all of the above this morning. I was waiting to turn right, he was coming the other way and it was obvious he hadn't seen me. If I was a fuckwit driver and had turned across him he would have had no way of reacting.

Obviously drivers shouldn't be distracted, text, steer with their elbows either - but when I'm on my bike I stay ultra-alert to account for drivers who haven't seen me and want to turn into my path or open their car doors.

Cyclists really don't help themselves sometimes do they?

Riven's right - clearly the man is an arse, and will behave arse-like whatever his manner of transport.

But you know what - I nearly crashed into another cyclist yesterday because I was admiring some sheep in the field next to me.

yes it was a bloke.

mind you a woman drove her car into the back of mine last week and admitted it was because she was busy looking at the advert on the side of a bus!
