To be really taken aback that my lovely neighbour talks on her mobile whilst driving?

I mean it, she really is lovely - funny, smart, intelligent - but I've just seen her again driving with her mobile to her ear. We live in a surburban area, there are plenty of opportunities to pull in and take the call - and she had her two very young children in the car. Am I over-reacting, or is it really no big deal? And - should I say anything to her?

yanbu. its dangerous and shes a silly moo.

fine to risk your own life but not that of others.

actually, she is neither smart nor intelligent if she does this... tell her about how you're campaigning for harsher sentences for people who drive while on their mobiles.. or call the police. especially if she's doing this repeatedly, she obv doesn't give a fig.

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 09/04/2010 20:20

I think that's what I'm finding so difficult to reconcile. She is absolutely lovely, but when I see her doing this I find it really hard to understand how someone who is so nice can be so bloody anti-social, inconsiderate and dangerous - which made me wonder if I was just over-reacting, iykwim?

You are DEFINItely not being unreasonable; There's a film somewhere on the net about 2 girls who kill someone else while texting in their car; i know she's not texting; well maybe not.

I can't get it up but maybe you could find it and casually let her see it on yr. computer.

YANBU - what a stupid stupid cow. I hate to see this. The stupid woman will kill someone someday.

iamwhatiamwhatiam · 11/04/2010 20:15

ppeatfruit I've seen that, it's spinechilling.

I think it's called cow or something.

Don't think this is a biggy.

I use my mobile in the car all the time. Perfectly legally - I have a gizmo called a parrot, which is bluetoothed to my mobile, has a mike angled to the driver and goes through the sound system of the car.

But here's the thing. The legal gizmo is much more distracting to use than a regular mobile. MUCH less easy to use, requires me to take my eyes off the road etc.

If you're of the mindset that the law can never be an ass, then of course we should hang and flog the mother.
