to have a shower?

My children are 3 (4 in June) and 2.7 years old. Ordinarily, I get up with DH, have my shower while he has breakfast and looks after the DCs, then he goes and gets ready, and goes to work. This morning, DS was in our bed, fast asleep, so I didn't really want to wake him with my shuffling around and getting ready.

So now, I want a shower. DCs are in the lounge, happily willing to watch a DVD while I go, but I'm feeling really paranoid!! They are good kids, and I know I won't be longer than 5-10 minutes tops. Does anyone else do this??? Am I being completely irrational to think that they can't be on their own like that?

i think it would be okay only 5 mins.
if you're worried leave the doors open you can hear them? or if you live in a house with an upstairs and downstairs ask them 2 play upstairs for the 5-10 min so you will be able to hear them

I wouldn't think twice about it, just leave the door open and enjoy your shower.

I often have a bath while my 2yr plays in her bedroom. Leave the door open and if you are anything like me, you can tell the difference between 'well behaved' noises and 'getting up to mischeif' noises!

Leave the doors to the bathroom and lounge open and let them know where you are incase they need you.. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

YANBU.

It will take 6 minutes for them to break up the furniture with tiny axes and then drag it into the middle of the room. 40 seconds to break into the cupboard of forbidden items for the matches and then 7 seconds to light the match so you have time.

Really, I think they will be fine. I often have a shower while my 3 year old potters round.

I do this every day! Something Special goes on, and I have a quick shower. We do have a gate on the living room door though.

Either that or DS is upstairs while I'm in the bathroom.

LOL nubbins...true!! Okay...three yesses means off I go to get clean!! Thank you...I've just never done it...since our oldest was born, I've always just had a morning shower when DH was still here...so this is a brand new thing!

They are completely entranced with Aladdin...so I think I'm okay!

SAVOY...LMAO!!
We also have a gate on the lounge door...but I don't want to leave it closed...DCs are both potty trained, so a closed gate means they wouldn't be able to get to the bathroom if they need to...
