with all the splitting hairs and pedantry? Prompted by my post yesterday and reading through other threads, I have read so many posts where people simply haven't read the OP point/s correctly and just simply want to disagree or deliberately misunderstand etc.

OP posts:

Och, it's the same on most fora.

I remember posting a thread over on TES (about broken biscuits) and it ended up about five pages long with said pedantry and hair-splitting (not about the broken biscuits, about something else) and I was flamed (for moaning about broken biscuits when other posters had far, FAR worse problems to worry about)

It's the nature of the beast.

I remember my line manager going to a school governors meeting and apparently they spent an hour discussing what a "plain biscuit" was as that was all the children were allowed to bring for breaktime snack. 10 minutes was spent on the custard cream alone! There was only a couple of minutes at the end devoted to discussing the school budget etc. FFS

Yeah you are.

Don't let it get to you. It's not all like that.

StealthPolarBear · 06/04/2010 08:19

this drives me mad
People either don't really read the OP, deliberately misread to take offense, or don't notice when the OP comes back and agrees the other posters were right after all, so the telling off continues
(Obviously I am thinking of AIBU)

tallyhoho · 06/04/2010 08:38

and then when any attempt is made to clarify they don't "get" that either

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 06/04/2010 09:23

i spent ages thinking of a way to deliberately understand the op

violethill · 06/04/2010 09:29

I thought your OP in AIBU yesterday was clear as daylight.

Maybe I have a higher IQ than most. Whoops, mustn't boast

StealthPolarBear · 06/04/2010 09:41

misunderstand of course

ZacharyQuack · 06/04/2010 12:23

YABU for saying "titsed off"

AnyFucker · 06/04/2010 12:27

zach...you beat me to it

what is "titsed off" ??

is it the same poster using this ridiculous made-up term ?

it is stupid and you should desist, forthwith !

the thread is now going thattaway ~~~~~~>

KAEKAE · 06/04/2010 12:38

I was just thinking this myself....after I posted something and was reading through the replies. It also pisses me off when I read a post and all people want to do is correct the grammar, spelling and typos they rip the poster to threads. It seems that some people on here just want an argument...Too much time on their hands I reckon!

Kaloki · 06/04/2010 12:48

The one that gets me, is that the thread moves on and then people come on and complain that it is misunderstanding the OP, when actually the OP had just stopped being discussed. The way conversations tend to work really.

runnybottom · 06/04/2010 13:00

Haven't read point correctly? If your OP needs translating correctly, you aren't making much sense. Which, BTW, you weren't.

And if you want pedantry, "titsed" isn't a word.
