.....with their new, all natural, colourings, just aren't as much fun as the old, really rather lurid, Smarties?

completely agree, colours too muted. And not nearly so much of a sugar rush.

Kids don't notice though !!

RustyBear · 04/04/2010 19:02

I want the old tube back.....

cyb · 04/04/2010 19:02

do the orange ones still taste of orange?

mabble · 04/04/2010 19:04

Did anyone else used to smear the blue ones on their lips as "lipstick"?

I mean as children....not as a fashion statement or something

the orange ones do still taste of orange though.

I miss the old tubes too... guessing what letter you would get (always seemed to be Q or E)

salbysea · 04/04/2010 19:31

YANBU

but at least they still taste remotely of confectionary - not like ice-lollies!, now that they are free from all their e number yumminess you might as well just lick the inside of your freezer

I the rectangle cardboard tubes best

hophophippidtyhop · 04/04/2010 19:36

Yanbu, and tictac orange and lime look crappy colours as well now.

RaceyLacey · 04/04/2010 19:37

Smarties are rubbish. They don't taste the same, and you can't pop the lid out like you could on the old ones.

I haven't bought any for myself since a Robbie Williams concert nearly 4 years ago because they were so bad. The boys still love 'em though.

MrsTicklemouseHasBunnyEars · 04/04/2010 19:40

and they have rubbish lids now!

bargainhuntingbetty · 04/04/2010 19:42

My dd doesnt like smarties any more and she used to so the flavour must have changed a bit (either that or she is a fussy wee )

cookielove · 04/04/2010 19:44

Yeah smarties, don't taste nice at all anymore, the tubes were much better before, not only did you get great tasting sweets, you got a toy, use to love popping it across the room!!

hophop, so right the tic tacs look so dull now

LetThereBeRock · 04/04/2010 19:48

The old tubes were much better.

OtterInaSkoda · 04/04/2010 19:49

YANBU. And they're rubbish for decorating cakes with now, too.

pointydog · 04/04/2010 19:56

It can be useful to have an example of packaging which is a hexagonal prism. Although I think the Twilight box is too

hocuspontas · 04/04/2010 19:57

I used to love getting a letter that I'd been after for ages! We used to unravel the empty tube so it laid flat and use the bottom disc for flicking at each other. We got our 6d worth in those days!

I boycott Nestle products so I don't know what the new ones look like but they sound pretty boring!

wukter · 04/04/2010 19:58

I thought they weren't the same. Had put it down to the joylessness of aging.

confuddledDOTcom · 04/04/2010 20:35

I don't buy Smarties anymore.

posieparker · 04/04/2010 20:37

Smarties are ruined by whoever now makes them, didn't they used to be Rowntrees?

taffetacat · 04/04/2010 20:38

I use M and Ms for cakes now with all their glorious technicolour Es

Pennies · 04/04/2010 20:39

You're so right about them tasting bitter - esp the brown ones. They're horrible.
